Default cursed....@#$@#$%ing bad luck

I had the worst day of my life yesterday. It started out great. I had my new truck, bought the night before and was showing it off. I went to run an errand for work and the boss calls me into her office.

"Clay, this is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. We are laying you off." Bad financial times yadda yadda.

Bosslady is a good friend of mine and the wife.

So here is the tally:

Tuesday PM: No oil pressure in the Z71

Thursday AM: Truck needs new engine

Thursday PM: New F250 bought (used)

Friday PM: Laid off

Thank god I was looking for another job at the time. 1 for 4 only because of Thurs. PM.

Sorry about that man. I hope your luck turns around. They say bad luck comes in groups of threes. Keep us informed.

Man, that sucks. Always hate to see anyone lose their job. Hope you find another quickly. At least you'll pull up to the interviews with a nice looking truck. (if that's any comfort)

Gesh, if she is a "good" friend of yours, I would hate to see what your acquaintances are like.. I don't even want to know about your enemies..

Best of luck to ya and keep your head up. I know, you don't want me to go and drop a cliche line on you, but there really is some truth in these things always seem to happen for a reason. It's the road getting to the other side that sucks..

True, a lot of things went wrong for you (and you have my sympathies) BUT, on the bright side, you woke up alive today to tell us about them!!!!!
Sometimes we have to revel the small victories in order to recognize the big one's.......

good luck in the job hunt. Just out of curiousity, what is your field? I recently went through a similar situation, was working for a great company, loved my job & coworkers, however the owner wasnt the best financial planner there was, and in order for me to keep my job wanted me to move to texas. Got to looking around & talking to good friends about the oportunities around, and ended up with a job in a field that I am much more interested in, with about a 20k increase in pay, not to mention the high probability of rapid career growth. The job market is strong for talented people in growing industries, and it's the time of year that people are looking to hire. Best of luck finding a new gig.

Hate to hear that! Some how it always works out for the best when all is said and done. One job I loved I survived 6 layoffs only to get it on of all days.... a Friday the 13th! I was one week away of going to Japan for 3 months to help set-up a new company venture! Passport done and company credit card issued....ready to go. When they asked me for the credit card I knew what it meant!

See now it's stories like this one that lets me know know my life isn't to bad, soooorrrry msumoose for your luck.
Don't sweat the little things, I fondly recall buying a new truck with my layoff notice in hand two days before we drove to Florida. The Florida trip was to mark the layoff.
I also bought my current house one week before I got laid off from another job.

As I like to say, "It's got to be worse before it can be better". Hang in there it'll come around.

If it were Spring, I'd say it gives you more time to fish......
Honestly, though--that blows. Sounds like you have some feelers out, so hopefully you won't be too long between jobs.
Good luck on the job hunt!
