Default Another Craigs List

I am in the market for a classic motorcycle and ran across a few ads that were too good to be true.

Sent an E Mail in response to a Chicago Craigslist ad for a Norton 750, The text below is the chain of responses from the scam artist. It is better if you read the E Mails from the bottom up.

Are people really stupid enough to fall for this stuff!

James

Thank you for the info, I will not need it shipped, I will pick it up and pay in cash on receipt of the clear title.
Tell me when and where and I will be there.

Hi Dan ,

I will let her go for $3,300 shipping and handling included , motorcycle was picked up a few days ago from my location , and supposed to be delivered to my cousin , shipping company will make the title transfer, arrange the money exchange and deliver the motorcycle to your location.

According to the contacts made, they are obligated to offer their customers up to 5 days of testing.
If you want to reserve the bike for you , please create an account on their website http://www.lylestrans.com/ , they will contact you with more information about shipping and payment. thank you ,

James:

Thank you for getting back with me and sending the great pictures.

A couple of questions.

1. Where is the bike located now?
2. What is your selling price?
3. Do you have a free and clear title?

I am very interested in purchasing the bike and will act quickly to help you out of your financial bind.

Good luck.

Dan

I would prefer a Commando from the late 60's but the ad was too good to be true, so I had to dick with the crook.

I collect old stuff, cars, bikes and boats.

I am looking for a Norton that I will spend too much money and time on to restore to something that resembles almost new. Funny thing is I enjoy the work and the spend, but when its done I just park it and look for another challenge.

Those were a nice looking bike....one of the few English bikes of that era that did not drip a ton of oil everywhere.

I've got a runner that I could be convinced to part with. That's why I asked. Was my daily ride for 4 years. My only transportation. over the last couple of years I added 6 Ducatis to my garage and the Commando gets ridden less and less. With the addition of my Aprilia RS125 a couple of months back, I doubt I'll be riding the Norton at all this year.
