Default Sleep Number Bed

The wife wants a sleep number bed. Does anyone have one and have any opinions on them?

A friend of mine does. I've never slept on it but she swears by it. Her sister used to joke that she only visitted so she could use it and get some rest. I lay down on it but didnt fiddle with the settings so I dont know what my "number" would be. The only person who complained about it, didnt know it could be adjusted.

Go ahead and buy it. To paraphrase the Talmud, "It's a husband's duty to make his wife happy in the bedroom.'

Good luck!

Out of curiousity - does the sleep number bed use an air cushion or that memory foam? I can't recall from the commercials.

I know several who have the memory foam (Tempurpedic) beds and love them.

They are giat air bladders specially baffled to provide support. My wife is at 100 which is as high as it goes and loves it and actually wishes it would go higher I am at 30 -40. Any higher and I wake up with a backache. I could take it or leave it. One good thing is that it will never lose it its support like a conventional mattress so it could be a lifetime item if you had a quick patch kit to go with it

thanks for the responses.....they do have some models that have the temperpedic top. She doesn't ask for much. I just wanted to get some objective opinions.

I have the cheapest one they make - without the digital readout. I have a bad back and it helps a little bit. Just get the mattress and make your own "box spring" support and you'll save some cash. The "box spring" is nothing more than a platform.

I have a highend mattress I bought one year ago almost to the day that has a thick layer of memory temperpedic on top of it. Memory foam is BS. My wife and I each have a nice crater on our respective sides where we sleep.

I bought it about three years ago. Can't find the receipt. I think it was about $350.

Holy cow! I got the cheapest one (full size) and opted out of the platform. I just checked the Select Comfort website, and they claim the twin size "mattress only" is $299:
http://www.selectcomfort.com/bedConf...or/sn3000b.cfm

But i priced the same mattress i bought using their configuration prices and it came out to be $624 or something. I KNOW i didn't pay that much. They go on sale frequently, so you might be able to save some money if you can wait to purchase it.

BTW - Its an extremely simple system - probably not worth the money they charge, but i've had no problems or complaints so far.

We bought the Nautilus brand air matteras system 2 years ago. Queen size with all the bells ands whistles. I would have to confirm with my wife but I remember something like $1800. The only regret I have is that I did not get one sooner. Awesome....I never realized how crappy our mattress was until I got one of these beds. You can set the firmness on either side and you do not feel any difference.

If you can stomach the $$$ ........go for it

I think mine total was about 3,600 (queen size) but that is with the motorized foundation that you can adjust the head/foot of the bed to your liking also adjustable head/foot vibrator, that price also included 2 pillows, matress cover & sheets. So far (3 months) I love it.

I literally just came back from buying a 5000 model. The price was $1,900 and did not include the box springs (I didn't need new ones that would have cost $600). I will set it up later today and take some pics to show y'all the inner workings.

King ......... every bed in the house is a king.

I didn't get the gold chain option since they would clash with the platinum boots that are bolted through ceiling mirror.

All seriousness aside, the bed was..........

FRIGGIN AWESOME. I woke up this morning without any stiffness in the lower back, shoulders, neck ..... anywhere. I used the lower setting for me and the bed truly conforms to the shape of the person. It provided great support. My wife did give me a strange look when I had set up the bed and I asked how she wanted it tonight - hard or soft?

The people that ask me what my Nautilus air bed is like and italways seemthey equate it to a water bed. It is nothing like that.

You noticed the timing Andy!

Here is a pic of the bed before the air bladders are fully inflated, the egg crate foam covers all of this and the top is zipped on. The top has an additional fluffy thing on it so the bed looks like a standard mattress when it is fully assembled.
