Default Nuthin to do with boats

We have never been to a major team sporting event before. Next month we are off to Colorado for a couple of weeks. Our son is a big Avalanche hockey fan so we are thinking of taking him to a game.

The question is, how much time before game time should one allow from arrival at parking area to seats? We will be snowboarding 1 1/2hrs from Denver on the same day so we need to judge time.

Personally, I'd allow an hour.

Hey! Remember, "we" drive on the wrong side of the road, but at least we allow OUR visitors to rent cars. Love your island.

Doug:

When will you be going? I ask because the Avalanche only have 4 home games in March and they sell out very quickly.

Once you've parked, 45 minutes is a good number to work with. That gives you walking time, beverage time, the john, find your seats and get comfy.

Now if you give yourself 1 1/2 hours you should be able to find the cheaper parking lots that are close to the rink.....this will cut down your walking time. Then find your seats in time to watch the teams warm up. Then you'll have time for a beverage and food run, find and use the cann and get back to your seat to watch opening face off.

Just a word on advice when it comes time for parking. Remember the first vehicles in the parking lot are the last vehicles out of the parking lot, so choose your parking space wisely.

Make sure you allow for the traffic, trying to find parking, the walk time from the parking as well. Everytime I go to see the Wings parking is the major issue.

Doug:

When we go to the Bronco games, we park fairly close to the Av's place but about a mile from the stadium. We can walk there in less than 1/2 hour. I would suggest that, if you park around Auraria the walk to the "Can" (Pepsi Center) will be less than 15 minutes, once you get parked. Unless it is snowing or something like that. Also, if you snowboarding, you might be a bit tired when you get there and might take a little longer to drag your a** all the way to the "Can". Enjoy the game.

Here's a thought ~ See if there's a shuttle/cityt bus to and from a parking lot. We did that when we went to Houston a few years ago to watch the Astros play. Worked out REALLY well!

Are you skiing in summit co. I use to live in Breckenridge The excess O2 from the 9600' elevation down to denver will wake you up and keep you up But if your staying in the higher elevation going home will cause you to get really tired really fast You may want to book that night's stay in or around Denver

Thanks for the info. The game we are after is the one 4/5. We will be skiing/boarding Copper that day (last of 3) but that night will be in Boulder.

Doesn't take much to entertain me. I'd be just as happy catching a minor league game at the Ice Center in Westminster but it would be very special for our sun. Sort of a birthday present for him too.
