Question School Me on the Beauty of This...

Welcome to 2016! The future! (I guess). For the life of me, I cannot find what looks "good" about this design. I first saw it in a couple of boat advertisements and I was like:

"Dude, why do you have Optimus Prime the Transformer strapped to your transom?"

NOT trying to start a brand war here at all. Might be the best performing engine ever, I dunno. I'm just trying to understand why a company would deliberately make a product look so fugly? It's "different" alright, if that's what they were going for. Too many sharp angles clashing. Oh, the colors can be whatever you want (for the most part), so no issues there. Beauty must be in the eye of the beholder

Please feel free to enlighten me or disagree with me if you find it attractive.

The only beauty is that it will be behind you, out of your sight, for a good portion of the time you're using the boat.

Double Butt Fugly.

Bet they cost less $ too.

Just put one of those cowling covers on it and enjoy.

If I had a dark blue hull with red/gray stripe and black bottom paint it may work. Fighting lady yellow not so much.

The ugly are good if you keep your eyes closed, they work harder, because they have too.

Its kinda grown on me I guess. I applaud them for doing something different, they are trying to appeal to the under 40 crowd on this IMO. My guess is BostonW, GradyW and mid size sportfish guys dont like these.

Similar to what s7marine did with their big boy outboards; not a fan. Do you get to the internals by taking off the side panels like an electric box or something?

Goofy looking, but growing on me over time. But I wouldn't be using looks as a criteria to choose an outboard.
