Default I got my NEW level today

Well you guys with your Stabila, Mayes and Johnson levels, good they are but you can keep them. You really need to see the new Empire e70 series levels in person. WOW is all I can say.

Try to avoid placing that new super-duper level on any wall or floor in your house....you will think it is broken.

As a side note. I visited my uncle two weeks ago and noticed he had a 6 ft level that was very old so I had to ask about it. It belonged to his father when he was a carpenter/framer. My grandfather has been gone for 30 years and my uncle has kept all of his tools just for the memories. I placed the level on at least a dozen surfaces, vertical and horizontal, and every one came up level. Now either that 40-50 year old level was still working fine or every surface in my uncle's house was out of level in the same direction.

Geez........let me correct my egregious post. Every surface in my uncle's house appeared to be either level or plumb, depending of course on the horizontal or vertical nature of the surface that was tested.

What is the proper word to describe the testing of a 45 degree angle when using a level and a speed square? Please shed some light on this question so I can avoid making a fool of myself ..... again.

Tireless, it is called bi-secting when you check a 45 degree angle for squareness.

Yes Welder, simple and it works like a charm. We use this method all the time in the Carpentry biz.

One of my project managers tried explaining the 3 4 5 to a summer worker (college student) - took him 3 hours to understand it.

Some people never get it. I know guys in the business for over 10 years and they still don't how to do it. Thats why their jobs get messed up and we have to go back and fix it.
