Default Sprint Sucks

Well to day I tried to call Sprint to get a better phone and utilize my no contract leverage. I know for a fact that the phones they sell are way over priced and any discount brings the price profit for them anyway. So the drama starts and high noon.

The first call and subsequent to number 6, either end up discounted, or routed wrong or dropped signal

Finally at 430 pm, I speak to a very nice lady in Nova Scotia who really wants to help and gives me a $150.00 credit plus the normal $150.00 for renewing my contract for 2 years. I really wanted the new blade phone or Blackberry.

So off to the store I go, very happy that received a good deal; $50.00 for a new phone, which I am sure they will make up with fees and such.

So I arrive at the store surrounded by the local poultry technicians, an hour passes and the girl calls my name.

They review the notes and tell me I will have to pay %162.00 plus tax for the phone I want. I said, how about the discount and they said that the $150.00 was taken off our regular bill of $104.00. I was not prepared to pay a dime today, so after 6 1/2 hours, I am in the same phone, sucky service and no way to talk to the girls in Nova Scotia to fix the problem, unless I repeatedly cal and by chance reach that service center again. Thanks for listening.

Here's what you do. Call Sprint tell them you want "X" phone, if they can't/won't give it to you explain to them you'll be taking your business elsewhere. If the reply is "sorry we can't...." then you ask for a supervisor. Try again with the supervisor. If that doesn't work see if there's another supervisor to speak to. Now if that doesn't work, go to Verizon. Now, here's they key in all of this have whoever it is you speak to on the phone ship you the new phone, provided you can strongarm them into it. The idiots in the store work on comission, of course they don't want the idiots in the call center undercutting their comission. Wireless retail stores are geared towards new kills and service where they try to strongarm you into buying a new phone from them. You're in the driver's seat because you have no contract. Keep reminding the call center of this. I've used this method a couple of times and it works pretty well. Your new phone won't be in your hand that day, but short term waiting is better than long term misery or cash outlay.

i had a problem with sprint after being a customer for 4 yrs , no contract after 2 yrs and tried to get a new phone but no go.they tried to sell me a phone for x amt of dollars. i said no way should be free or little money since i was an excellant cust for 4yrs . told them i will take my business elsewhere and their response was ok. so i did and went with verizon and they actually gave me 2 free phones no charge what so ever except to activate and any problems they will bend over backwards to help you, they are very customer oriented and we havent had one drop call and they do not charge for roaming and your phones are insured by mfg for 1 year for anything except battery , if you buy their insurance it covers for 2 yr warranty its worth the 5.99 charge each month. cover water damage , running over your phone. etc. they have good plans to also family plans. try verizon you will be satisified.

King - I just went through the EXACT same thing two weeks ago with Sprint.

My 2 year old phone was getting pretty torn up, my battery died a lot etc.. I called, got the discounts, went to the store to get a Sansung A900 and the dumbass chick behind the counter says it would could cost me 299. I asked about my discounts, which I know were there and they said blah blah blah.. I get the manager and to make a long story short, I didn't get a new phone, they replaced the exterior case of my phone for free (so it looks better) and I bought an extended life lithium-ion for $50.

I was a degree away from telling them to take my phone and shove it up their A--...

I remember when I would get a FREE phone from AT&T every year or so.. They're all a bunch of fargin bastages now and their service sucks..

Don't give me this "Verizon" crap either , you still have to buy your phone with them also and they will give you the same runaround once your under "contract"..

After almost 20 years of dealing with cellphone companies I say can the only good cell phone company is one you don't currently have.

I just switched to Sprint from Cingular whom I had come to dislike in 4 years of service. Prior to Cingular I had ATT. I wound up smashing my ATT cellphone to bits and depositing it in the trash can just outside the door of the local ATT store after spending 2 days trying to buy a battery from them without signing a new contract.

Sprint has been great so far but I am sure I will come to a parting of the ways with them one day too.

Cingular is exactly the same. There is no leverage. If my sister inlaw did not give me her old cingular phones I would have found another service.

BTW, I can't stand that 2 year comittment and a phone with only a 1 year warranty.

My question is this. Why the he!! can't they just make a dam phone???!!!! I want a flip phone that makes and receives calls and has a calender on it. Nothing more. I don't want to surf the web on it, I don't want to take pictures with it, I don't want it to wipe my butt or pick my nose. I want a phone that doesn't suck, that has a battery that will last, even two years after I bought the phone, I want it to have a signal almost everywhere I go. Basically, what I want is a Motorola StarTac. Why discontinue one of the best cell phones ever??? So that you have to keep buying their crappy ones every year.

Rant over.

Now I don't own a cell phone, never have and I can't see owning one in the future. What the he!! is so darm important that one has to call someone while they are walking down the street or while playing a game of pickup football?????

It is times like this that my thoughts fall back to my marketing classes:
If you build it, they will come.
If you market the crap out of it, they will buy it.

For 2,000 plus years man/woman has got along just fine without one, why now is it that we can't be without at least one???????

The part that kills me the most is the plans one has to buy into....flat rates....every frigggging month! It's only $19.95, $24.95 or $29.95 a month. Have you ever sat back and looked at how many different types of services are availible to the public at $25 a month.....TV, Computer and Telephone are but to name a few. Yah it's ONLY $25 per month, but add ALL of those $25 services adds up to $100-$200 extra a month. There's a marketing guru out there somewhere that cornered the $25 market and all the business have jumped on it........nothing personal guys and gals, but I see a lot of sheep out there these days.

garett,
I live on my boat. I do my business from my boat. My cell phone works on my boat no matter where I am. I need my cell phone. It gives me freedom.

I've found when I have issues with my Altell, it's better to go to a retailer.

I live in Missouri tho' - people are nicer...

We gave up our home phone about a year ago, so for us it is not an option. Every 6 weeks I am on call for a week and I have to forward my company "verizon" phone to my sprint phone because I have no signal with verizon. I am now waiting for the last supervisor I told to shove my phone up his arse to cancel the discount the lady in Nova Scotia gave me.

I will have nothing to do with Sprint EVER again. Several years back, my wife and I used Sprint's long distance service for our home phone. One month we got our bill, and there was a balance of $76 left over from the previous month. We called them to see why our account wasn't credited, and they said they never recieved the payment. We got our canceled check from the bank, and called them back. We gave them the routing numbers (off the back of the check) over the phone and faxed them a copy of the check.

Next month, same thing. There was a $76 overdue balance. Again, we gave them the routing numbers and faxed them another copy of the check.

Next month, same thing! This went on for SIX MONTHS!!! We had the canceled check THEY cashed, and we kept getting a bill with an extra $76 worth of overdue charges each month. After SEVERAL phone calls over six months, we discovered that Sprint PCS cashed the check (verified by the routing numbers on the check), not Sprint Long Distance (also at the SAME address). We didn't even have a Sprint PCS account!!!

Sprint PCS wouldn't talk to us, because we didn't have an account, and Sprint Long Distance kept insisting we owed them another $76 each month. After six months of playing phone tag, Sprint turned us into a collection agency. My wife and I surrendered, not wanting to damage our credit report, paid the collection agency. Sprint has already gotten every dime they will ever get from us.
