Default Police K9 question

OK assuming you are in a place where the K9 is turned loose, let's say innocently, how do you surrender without being bitten?
There must be a protocol or otherwise you might as well call it deadly force.

I think once it gets to the point where a leo has to release the dog you've gone over the proverbial line and you deserve to get bitten. It's then up to said leo how long he will allow the dog to enjoy a limb or two..

Deadly force..... You making Meth your trailer are you

They are trained to not bite if you stand still, sometimes that works and sometimes the dog is very keyed up and your getting bitten anyways.I have been attacked by K9 before (it happens) he grabbed around my knee and I got a few punctures nothing bad. Saw a suspect (carjacking guy) have a nice piece gone out of the top of his thigh. It was like a shallow ice cream scoop of meat out of his thigh, way cool...

Don't move. One hand covers your nuts and the other your face. Until it bites you anyway. Or climb a tree.

You might try crapping your pants.

I used to work in a sporting goods store. One of our regulars was a K9 cop and his dog. He brought the dog in all the time. It was friendly and had free run of the store. The one word command from the handler and it was game on.

Since most of the instructional videos show them going after your fore arm first I would think just putting my hands up and behind my head would prevent him/her from biting its first target point. Legs are a lot harder to fit in your mouth then a forearm.

Here is my thing when it comes to K9 use. That dog isn't running towards you with the goal of putting handcuffs on you. He is probably going to bite you even if you change your mind and start cooperating. How is a person supposed to just stand/lay there and let the dog chew them up without trying to defend themselves? It's not natural not to try to fend off an animal attacking you. Yet, if you do then you have assaulted an officer on top of whatever you did before they sicked the dog on you.

If it get released, only thing that will stop it is the handler. Most of the time. Best thing is not to be in a situation that a K-9 is coming at you. I have a few friends that are handlers, and have taken a bite with a sleeve on. I also have a working line GSD.

First just stop acting like a fool. But seriously just stop moving. K9s are trained to stop aggressive or fleeing individuals. If youre really worried curl up in the fetal position and cover your head and lay still.

I have a good friend that has a K9 and works for the Toledo Police. He told me that just about everyone will comply by just threatening to send the dog so he rarely needs to turn the dog loose. If he does turn the dog loose because the perp didn't comply than they are going to get bit. He has been doing K9 for 3 years and has only turned the dog loose a few times and that was because they couldn't find the guy they were chasing.

They can take a substantial bite out of anything. I've had a nice chunk taken out of my arm by a GSD. Protect your vitals or get out of their range.

Just get a rolled up newspaper, you'll be fine.
You could also Google K9 force continuum while planning out your big caper...

Just yell as loud as you can

"Sit boo boo, sit" and you are safe.....it is the secret police password..
