M&P Shield

I bought an M&P shield 9mm last week and shot my first 120 rounds yesterday. My first impression is what an enjoyable shooter! 100% satisfied. This is an excellent weapon and I would definitely recommend it. Very comfortable, balanced. And an excellent trigger. I opted for the manual safety.

I originally went in to purchase the bodyguard. I'm pretty slight in stature so the small size of the bodyguard was nice but I don't particularly enjoy shooting the .380 round.

After comparing both I opted for the shield.

The Shield is a great little pistol. I think it has a great trigger.

I am a Glock fanboy and I bought a 40 cal Shield about two months ago. My impression was the same after over 200 rounds. The thing shoots nice and the trigger is nice also for a striker fired gun. I was wondering if I would not have regreted getting the Glock 43 and I don't. It has pretty much claimed the top spot for EDC. Still love the Glocks but this is a good compromise and I highly recommend it also. Mine is W/O the safety as I am well trained and I don't want to have to worry about being I am not used to a safety on a gun.. For a 300 or so gun it is top shelf and very nice.

Great that you found a weapon that is comfortable to you .

I was dead set on the px4 but the the desire to CC outweighed the enjoyment of shooting it. I really liked that gun a lot. For the money the shield is just hard to beat. I'm used to shooting the 1911 so the safety is familiar to me and has been drilled into me since I started shooting.

I fired 20 rounds of federal 124 grain hydro-shok personal defense rounds as a consideration for my carry rounds. Any other recommendations?

That is a good round

The Winchester ranger ammo is a definite man stopper
and
Speer is good (the hollow point stuff)

Probably have 500 rounds through mine without a hiccup. Easy break down, smooth trigger and my first semi. Next with be the 380 for a pocket pistol as I want something lighter.

To be honest I dont know really how much lighter you are going to truely get but maybe 4 ozs or so... The shield is pretty small and light...

Keep looking for.a CC gun and this seems to be the one that gets high praises .

Have looked at them several times but never shot one but daughter's boyfriend is going to buy one so I will shoot his first

Every damn pistol I got other than Admirals Beretta Nano is little larger than I would want for a CC

9mm Shield here. I have big hands and it works well with me. 2 years, no problems.

Forgot to add that the extended magazine gives it an additional 1/2 inch for your pinky finger something to hold. I don't like 3 finger pistols. It's integrated and looks normal too.

Love my shield. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Shoots great and awesome trigger. I only wish they had a higher capacity mag for range practice. Those 7 and 8 round mags empty fast.

gumpire 01-10-2016 07:48 AM

LEO's and first responders get firearm discounts.

Meant close to 300, LE price is 317 and I think I have seen it close to 330 a time or two for all others...

They do go fast. The first couple of mags I loaded seemed to take a bit more force than I am used to to get them to snap in but after a couple reloads either I got used to it or it loosened up.

They seem to be had for around 350$ about anywhere now. At under 400$ I dont think you will find a better gun!

Google M&P Shield Safety alert and make sure your pistol isn't affected. I recently bought a Kimber Solo, had considered a Shield but the Kimber won out. Cost a bit more.

I love my Shield. I carry it more than any other handgun that I own. Carrying right now at the grocery and around the house in the new Cobra Gunskin OWB holster I picked up last week.

RipTideBBQ 01-10-2016 09:14 AM

^^^ pic was taken at home after I got home form grocery store - just to clarify. I don't open carry.
