At this point I have very little taxable income, so according to this I am quite poor. Just the way I like it!

Well shiyat, I am part of the dark side. The libs always say the 1% have more to give and should be taxed more. People start realizing that rich is you even though you drive a truck to work and have a less then glamorous life. No rari in my garage.

High enough to have mandatory government wealth distribution but not high enough to be able to hide if from the government.

I've always thought "the 1%" is a term created by people who don't understand money. I know plenty of people who make a ton of money but have no savings. They're not rich. The average multi-millionaires I know drive pickups and old jeans and enjoy life rather than working all the time. They're rich. It's not about what you make, it's about how you save and spend it.

And to think - most of our forefathers left England because of their oppressive taxation

If the average American really totaled up the taxes they paid, there'd be riots in the streets. If they had to pay it out in cash every week, there'd be riots in the streets. But instead, it's just automatically withdrawn, hidden (ex: gas taxes) or layered (ex: city taxes, county taxes, state taxes and federal taxes) so we don't really notice. A few years ago I took tabs for one year - estimating items like fuel taxes and the like. Roughly 2/3 of my income went to some form of government entity. It's absurd.

Really? $400K household income now makes you in the top 1%. I thought you had to pull down millions to be in that category. I think that is a bunch of crap. I think they want to call people wealthy that aren't actually wealthy so they can pay more of their "fair share".

The income part is important. Married couples over age 65 whose household income is in the top 4% get hit (twice) with extra Medicare Parts B and D premiums due to the IRMAA (income-related monthly adjusted amount), also known as an "income tax". It's bad enough that there was no cap on the amount of earned income subject to Medicare taxes, but in retirement, those high income retirees pay extra for the same Medicare coverage every other 65 YO gets. BTW, the IRMAA reaches its maximum right at the low end of the top 1% income range.
