It seems like all prior service qualifies. I bring an old ID card and they never challenge it. I don't know what the official policy is though. I do know that there are a lot of choices out there for home centers. Lowes gets my business because of this program.

I live in Florida where you can get a "V" for Veteran on your drivers license. All I needed was a copy of my DD214. Lowe's has honored it every time.

VA card works as well. Any veteran is entitled to the discount.

Lowes gives a discount for anyone with a veteran ID. Homedepot will give a discount to service connected disabled veterans proved by showing a veteran ID that says "service connected" on the card.

HD here does not honor any veteran discounts, and because of that I refuse to give them my business.

I don't normally ask for a discount (VN vet, not career) but if they ask I say yes and nether place has ever asked for "proof".

I got it one time; and I'm not even in the military.

I work with the military a lot and had a Contractor's CAC. She asked for my ID for the credit card, then saw the CAC behind it when I pulled my driver's licence out. Gave me the discount and handed me my receipt and said "thank you for your service". I explained it and told her she should probably remove the discount, but she said it would take a manager and would be a hassle. It was around 5 bucks, so I pulled a 5 out and told her to apply it to the next service members tab. Still wonder if she just pocketed it and went on.... I'll likely never know.

Spring Hill, Brooksville and New Port Richey HD's do not honor my VA card.

These are all my local Home Depot's and all require active, retired, or service connected disability.

I get 10% from my Lowes by showing them my drivers license, which has a "V" on it signifying I was prior service member.

There are statistics that say 7% to 13% of the population are vets. So that doesn't seem to be a lot of folks that ask for the discount.

HD is right there for the rights of the LBGT bunch, but has little concern for us veterans. I only shop there when absolutely necessary.

I'll drive past 2 home depot to shop at Lowes. I appreciate the discount, recognition, and or gift Lowes offers our vets. IMO its not an entitlement but simply a gift I appreciate.

Neither honor around here. They did long ago but said they are losing too much $$$. Like that could happen.

Ditto... I go to HD when I have to... HD does give Vets a discount under certain circumstances.

I wonder what those circumstances are, the HD here refuses it all together, no exceptions.

Kudos to you vets get it if you can. If you're not a Vet or they won't honor it you can get 10% off your entire order for $1.95. Www.10off.lowescoupons4less.com. I use it all the time, just FYI.
