Back in the CB days, what was your, "Handle"?

liveaboard74 post the CB talk/songs reminded me of the days a lot of people had CB's and that is how we communicated back then.
Most of us are old enough to have lived through those days.
You know, "Smokey and the Bandit" days.

Ride around in the country on a weekend night and looking for your friends, just call out on the CB and if they were there, they would answer.
We had a channel we used a like a home base so ch. 19 wasn't crowded with BS.

Yesterdays CB is today's cell phone/social media.
Yesterdays Handle is today's User Name.

"How bout ya Stinkfoot, Flapjack, Rum Runner, (whoever you were trying to contact), you got your ears on?"
If any one else from your crew was out there they would come back.

Somehow we knew the words to all the truckers songs.

What was you Handle back in the day or still today?

I had a white 66 Mustang Fastback 2+2, 289 auto. So I went with, "White Lightening".

We do this with VHF/boats around Destin and most of it is by the name of the boat.

"Toy Man".... I was given that name as I was always ahead of the curve with roger beeps, talk back, echo boxes and any other toy I could build or buy. I also liked the power and pushed a 1500w tube transmit amp with a 200w Texas star on my base unit. With my 150' tower, A99 and a 6 beam vertical I could create dead key silence for 50+ miles and snow TV sets two streets away. Some of the locals called me "E.F. Hutton". It was a fun hobby back then but I grew out of it 25 years ago.

You bet! I keep one in my car for road trips. It's BY FAR the best traffic info there is. Beats Waze, XM, etc. leave the squelch up and if somethings afoot, you'll hear about it!

I was a teen and Myron was my handle, figured if they liked a nerd that much they'd never be disappointed in me.

Mine was Headache - which had to do with the name on my raceboat.

Racing was big in Florida then, and on many weekends a group of us would meet at 4am, and roll to whatever city we raced in that weekend as a group. All van's towing raceboat's on open trailers back then.

Most weekends the group would include:

- The Headache
- Oddjob
- Tasmanian Devil
- Print Man
- Physical Graffitti
- Scorpion
- Smedley
- Chickenship
- and Chaos.
