Default Automatic notification of sold homes?

Does anyone know of a way to set an alert to be automatically notified when a home sells in a defined area of the city? I've found plenty of info on how to be auto-notified of new listings through Zillow or Trulia, but can't find an auto notice for sold homes.

Ideal would be some kind of free service that a non-professional can access.

Ideas welcome!

Find a friend that is a real estate agent, like my buddy Dave. He can put you into a system that sends you automatic email alerts when anything goes on the market in a specific area with complete MLS description, pictures, features, asking price, etc. and you can see A) how fast they sell and B) what was paid for them.

I've been following my local area for several years like this. It's called FlexMLS. This is an example from my area:

It's not open to the general public per se, you can't enroll yourself. You have to be a Real Estate agent with access, but there's no charge for it that I know of because hey, it's how you sell houses and it's a tool they use. Hope this helps!

On Realtor.com you can search by sold homes. Not sure you can save that search and have it send you automatic alerts but at the very least you can save it down as a favorite and just pull it up whenever you want. I know you can run the same search on Zillow. I'm not sure about Trulia.

I have some properties I have "liked" in the past and subsequently received notice of their sale. Not sure if it works for an area without "liking" each home in the neighborhood though.

Realtor.com is much better than trulia or Zillow. They're too outdated.

Local MLS

Emails come through according to criteria you set.

Local Realtor can set you up.
