Default Hover Board brands?

My daughter wants a Hover Board for Christmas. Does anyone know anything about these things? I have seen the you tube videos. Is there a better bar and than another? Do they last? Any help is appreciated.

I think there is only one manufacturer but several models. Low end ones are lighter with smaller wheels and batteries. They are all Chinese so expect a 10-20% fail rate. I'm looking for one for my son and figuring the cheaper the better to start and hope it actually lasts.

I have been researching this all morning, what I have figured out is the following:

They are all made from 2 factories,
There are a lot of counterfeit ones on Amazon so you won't get the warranty
It is going to be close on getting them from China by Christmas

My son's arrived today. I nearly broke my neck testing it before hiding it away.

The cheaper one's have a habit of catching on fire. I've seen 2 start smoking.

Hard to say that there is any distinction. All reviews I've been able to find say they are all made by the same company. I went with the one that shipped from the USA and that has service centers here in the USA. The ones coming from China directly, I don't trust that I'd have any support should it break.

The swagways have been featured in Ellen and other tv shows, and they have support in the USA so I chose them because of that, plus they give a 1 year warranty.

For those that got or gave them as a gift give us an update on how they were liked.

Just saw something on abc news in New York that they are illegal here and a cop could give you a $500 fine although unless causing a disturbance with it I would hope a cop wouldn't just "pull" you over and give you a ticket

Their all from the same factory. Guy I bought mine from said the Chinese will put any name you want on them. Definitely a learning curve to riding them. You will crash! Plan accordingly.
