Default Does anyone know about violins?

My daughter has requested her own violin for a Christmas gift. She is playing violin in school and we currently lease the instrument each year. She wants her own but I know nothing of quality brands. Not looking to spend $1000. Something in the range of a few hundred dollars.

We purchase Violin's for our kids through the Violin Exchange in Dunn, N.C. - He takes trades when they move up in size and with 3 kids playing we have never had one that we were not happy with when it arrived. Of course some have sounded better than others and they get better as they get bigger. They also get more expensive as they get bigger. He is the type of guy that you can call and explain what you are looking for and he will try to steer you in the right direction. Can't remember his name right now but this has reminded me I need to order a size up for my middle child.

Go talk to the place that you are leasing from.
Have her fit for the right size if she is young.

They'll give you all info you need.
Then go from there.

If taken care of you can usually flip it if she tires from it for close to the same price.

A good violin sounds good, feels good, is beautiful, and does not go down in value. When she needs to move to a 4/4 I would recommend spending some money.
