Default Need a safe.

I know that many of you have Gun safes for your collections and other items. I am now in need of a safe as well. I live in a small community that is gated, (I know, no protection at all), but I have two large Boxers that will end someone's life if they enter without my wife or I there, so I am very confident no one will be breaking into my place anytime soon.

Pair that with the fact that my wife and I live a very modest lifestyle, aka...poor. The I-phone 6s that I am contemplating purchasing for the wife will be the largest expense I have pulled the trigger on in years!

My budget is $600. I have the following guns:
* Remington 870
* Spikes Tactical AR w/scope
* Henry 30-30 w/scope
* Marlin 22 rifle/wife scope
* Remington 270 w/scope
* S&W AR 22 cal w/scope
* S&W M&P 40 pistol
* S&W 642 pocket revolver
* Three airsoft rifles w/scope, actually red dots things! sorry forgot what called

I would like to have some shelves as well to store ammo. I do not need a $5000 safe with any bells and whistles, just looking for a place to store all this stuff so that its out of the way.
Its all stored in a buddies house now that has a walk-in safe room but he will be selling his place within 6 months and is moving, so I need a place. My pistols are now stored in a small wall safe.

Where should I concentrate my search for best pricing?
Should I wait until Black Friday?
If purchased online won't shipping kill any real deal?
Can I use one of those Gun Cabinets?
Would love to have some fire protection but $$$$$$ I think.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Sam's Club usually has good deals on Stack-On safes. You can get a 28 gun for around $600.

I got mine at Home Depot for around $400 and am very happy with it. I would reconsider posing what exactly is in your gun collection online.

For $600 I would buy a good used safe. I bought my Champion from a friend for around $800. The older ones are heavier but they are all heavy as hell. All safes lock. Protecting expensive guns and important documents from fire is big for me.

Tractor Supply has one for around $695 that should meet your needs.

Think about a good used JoBox. They are thicker steel than the inexpensive gun safes and they have a very good locking system. Take some scrap carpet and line the sides and make some wooden supports for the guns and you are good to go.

I would love a used safe, but I never see them in my local craigs list of yard sales, I have been looking for sev months.

I don't consider my collection, much of a collection to warrant scrutiny from anyone. Please explain your thought process, because if there's a genuine reason I will delete.

Tractor supply usually has a good black friday sale on the Winchester safes. Perfect for your budget and needs IMO.

Just bolt a Stack on to the floor. If you have an alarm system, the cops should be there well before they can do anything with the safe.

Many of the more expensive. $5K+ (heavier and fireproof) safes are intended for 2nd homes and/or remote locations where law enforcement may not be notified of a break in, and where a fire could go un-noticed.

I would assume he was thinking that if somebody knows what you have in your house and it is of interest to them then they are apt to try and go get it with or without you in the house. Atleast that is how I read it.

A good used safe. New ones you can buy in your budget can be broken into in less than 2 min. Youtube it.

Any safe is better than none. That said, your budget won't get you much. fight the urge to buy a Sentry on price. You would regret it. In that price range I recommend not getting an electronic lock either. Most of the cheap ones are junk. Quality wise, the Winchester from tractor supply might be your best bet. They are thin and light but so are all the others in that range.
