Default USPS Rant

Postage went up on 1/8/06. First Class mail increased from .37 to .39. Post Cards increased from .23 to .24.

None of the local Post Offices have .01 or .02 stamps to add to the "old" stamps. They don't know when or if they will ever receive the stamps.

Ready for this ????? ....... New stamps (with the correct values) are not available until March

The level of incompetence to achieve this result is mind boggling

The sad part is that the post office was pretty much self-sufficient branch of the Govt. until the 70's. That's until EOE got involved. Coincidence?

i thought the USPS was in the red the last few years, and debt free now??

I agree on the level of incompetence, thank God for subsidies and 3rd class mail

The gov't could make enough to pay for the war for 50 years if they would sell off (privitize) the mail service.

Sounds like they are pretty smart to me. Most will add another full rate stamp to get their mail delivered

It must be where you guys live. I have a roll of the new .39 stamp and also have the .02 to go with my old roll. Perhaps it's just your local PO.

PO does not just stand for Post Office you know. Pi$$ed Off works too.

I like the group here as well up North but the Chatham MA office needs a D-10. I truley think it is a localized problem from town to town.

Haven't had to buy them but you should see the mail man here on our RFD route - they have these little Grumman vehicles - well, the mailboxes are maybe 100 yds apart and he goes full throttle to full brake at every stop. (I keep thinking of that mailman in Chevy Chase where he moves to Maine to write and the mailman slows to like 60 on his dirt road to throw the mail out. Chevy complains and the postmaster says - where do you live - Oh yea - he's pretty well hit in the ass by the time he gets way out there...)

We get our neighbors mail a few times a week. They must go through those vehicles like crazy. We also don't get free samples and a lot of the junk mail seems to not make it - comparing my mail to others. That's OK with me - I never lost anything as far as I know. Our neighbors are good about sorting the mail here.

I read that the most common cause of dismissal is Non delivery of mail. Seems form time to time they find attics full of mail in these guys houses...They caught one guy in the Midwest cause his attic caved in. They found some 25 year old mail...

WE have gotten both .02 stamps and new ones here. I think the problems are localized.

If you think you have problems with the mail where you are, try getting mail around New Orleans.

Our mailman had a pellet stove blow up in his face a week or so ago. Today I go down to the box to get my mail and there are tire tracks in the snow but no mail. The only thing in the box was a delivery of pest control shells (12 ga. shells that shoot explosives) that was delivered by Fed-X Ground. I thought that poor Al crapped himself when he saw the warnings all over the shipping box.

As it turns out he just decided this morning that I would automatically just go to the PO and pick up the mail. ;? ;? I wonder about the thought process sometimes.
