Default Bad Movies

I was home sick the past couple days and watched some movies. One was San Andreas with The Rock. It is the typical action movie that's only goal is to entertain you for a short time. This one though was crap. I like dumb action movies too. So when they are making it, especially when they are doing the editing, do they realize it is crap or do they really think it is a good movie? I don't expect action movies to be realistic but at least put some effort into. One of the best worst parts of the movie was the boat. It had a Mercury outboard on it. With the sound effects they used, it sounded like a alcohol funny car. I kept waiting for the flying sharks.

best bad movie ever-

Beowulf and Grendel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGlSAtb-SDw

this movie is unintentionally hilarious! total b-movie with cheesy acting and effects.
if you do a shot every time they say "fooking trolls!" you'll never make halfway.
I like the part where they cut off the trolls arm and he picks it up and starts beating them with it.

Often times they don't care if it's bad. They care if it will make them $$$. The product is often irrelevant.

Open Water 2. I couldn't stand the crying baby throughout the entire movie, not to mention the stupidity of the premise.

There are just too many to name though. Precisely why I don't watch much TV or movies.

The sign of a TRULY bad movie is one that is SO bad, that it eventually circles all the way around to become a cult hit or even some kind of weird art flick. Rocky Horror is sometimes put in that category, but that is probably not fair because it was always intended to be bad/campy both as a play and a movie. The kinds of films that I am talking about are ones like "The Room" "Battlefield Earth" many 50's and 60's sci fi and horror films, the one where John Wayne plays Ghengis Khan and the collected works of Ed Wood. Battlefield Earth is hard to put into the classic horrible cult film category because if its Scientology connections, but it is funny seeing an 8 foot John Travolta with a big Vulcan forehead and Gene Simmons hairdo and stage costume saying "cat crap" because Saint El Ron would not have tolerated real cursing in his movie.

really? are they are so bad you can't even spell one of their names correctly? That is some true dislike for them for sure!!

I agree with you and I am not a fan of any of them off screen but to say they are bad actors or the like is kind of funny considering how successful they are, no?

Because I no longer watch movies or tv any longer I can't help out here.

I will not participate in the destruction of this country by giving ANY of my hard earned $$$ to these liberal Hollywood ass-clown to perpetuate their filth!

Quite often they do. In some cases they know it's a bad movie but they believe it will make money - either by the way the deal has been structured (production/distribution costs of $X; foreign pre-sales of $X+), or because they think it will be a hit with a certain demographic. For example, no one thought the Jackass movies were going to win any awards, but they knew they stood a good chance of $$ since costs were relatively low and there was a core audience out there who could pay.

In other cases there is no expectation of a big box office - the players involved all make money from the making of the movie, so "group think" pushed it forward and everyone involved collects their $$ from the actual production - kind of like a big commercial building that, once completed, sits empty. All the construction players make $$, but the thing should never have been built.

Agree with Cruise

Eh. Ben Affleck had some good movies. Argo, The Town, Boiler Room, Good Will Hunting, Dazed and Confused.

Billy Bob- Fargo (series), Monsters Ball, A Simple Plan, U Turn, Sling Blade, Tombstone, Dead Man.

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, or the Avacado Jungle of Death

As to San Andreas, how could they go thru ALL that debris and not have an engine failure or hull breach ?

There are so many movies that should never have been MADE and end up on the FREE movie sites. I wonder if anyone really watches that crap enough to make money for the movie producers and actors. I wonder if the actors got a flat rate for the movie or residuals.

I watched all three of those movies. They are essentially ridiculous stories with the characters doing ridiculous things. A bit like pro wrestling, no realism whatsoever but very entertaining for what it is.

If I remember correctly, there will be a Sharknado 4 next year. I will watch it.
