Default Time for new cell phone

About to get a new phone via the company plan this week. It'll be my only phone, so both work and personal use. Work use is basically email and calls, nothing significant. Planning on getting the newest released phone I can so hopefully it'll better handle 2 years worth (old company 2 year contract plan) of software updates and all that.

Iphone 6s Plus or Samsung Galaxy s6 edge+ ??

My last iphone was a 4s and my last samsung was an s5.

Based on the specs, the samsung is way more powerful, but that doesn't necessarily tell the whole story since they operate completely differently. Anybody use one of these samsung phones with the curved screen edges?

It's not what you are looking at, but they all do basically same thing. To me the main difference is battery life, look at droid max, 50% more battery and a 15 minute charge gives you about 50% charge. The USB goes to twice the voltage and current why monitoring temperature...

I had a 4 year old droid from verison. I replaced it a few weeks ago and couldn't answer calls, missed calls ,text, and couldn't even open the thing. I got the good one with twice the battery life of the normal phones. Went back 10 times for usage instruction and just couldn't get home with what I had just been show making the phone usless again. Went to ATT and saw the Samsung Galaxy . I got the active model. left the store with it and was doing things I hadn't been able to do with my old phone after 4 years of ownership. I can get 4 days on the battery with little use. I get at least 2 days no matter what I have done. I do not live on my phone though as it appears other do.

Yeah, I actually need the active model one...Picked up my S5 out of the boat scuppers more than once unfortunately we're on Verizon though so it's out. Guess there's a Sony waterproof one but I hadn't seen it on the Verizon website, just in store.

The Active model has a water proof rating and a easy mode. Used it all morning. Took it off the charger yesterday morning and I have 61% power right now. I'll probably put it on the charger tomorrow night

If I wasn't married to an Apple OS, I would get the S6+ Edge in a heartbeat, it is easily the sexiest phone there is. But alas, I am stuck with my Iphone 6 and too big of a puss to make the jump.

After issues (known) with two straight Samsung Galaxys I went to a Motorola Moto X and I really like it. Plus, it doesn't come with all the Samsung bloatware and apps.

My GF has the S4 I went with the Motorola Maxx. Both were purchased the same day. We've had the phones for 2 years and I like the Moto Maxx far better than the Samsung, Her battery life is about 1/2 day. The Moto is still one to two days depending on use.

Moto is much easier to use and doesn't come with all the stuff on the S4. Seems more logically intuitive and user friendly. Samsung for me not so much. Hate messing with her phone. Only issue with either phone is the continual updates--man they never stop. That's been my mileage anyway.

Guess I could throw some more in the mix too, so no reason to hold back on suggesting something else. Just has to be able to be ordered through Verizon. Currently have a Moto E, and I do like the basic android look better than all the extra Samsung jargon that was on the S5. Just thought the quality of the Samsung phone itself was probably the best I've experienced in Androids.

An hour ago I ordered my first iphone (a 6s).. I've been using the Droids since they came out and the Treo (?) before that.. I was going to switch to iphone when I got this Droid until I saw the ad showing it 'water resistant' a crock of shit, a little perspiration from my hair gets on the ear piece and it's down until it dries out. Second reason is the program I use for data base on my Windows machines (filemaker) at the office makes an app for ipad & iphone and not Droid. That's my main reason for jumping ship. Ordered it and the Mophie pack, I'll let you know how I like it.

Is it my imagination or have they made it more complicated by unbundling the plans and phones? I'm with ATT and ready to upgrade from my Samsung S4.

The wife and both switched from Android to Iphones for one simple reason... they still work flawlessly 2 years after you buy them. If you do have a problem, walk in to a local Apple store and walk out with a functioning phone... or send your Samsung droid phone off in the mail and wait. The resale is also significantly better.

My Galaxy and my wife's Note 3 seemed better when they new.... fast forward 18 months and we were wanting to throw them in the pool.

You can't go through Verizon and have a Samsung Galaxy Active. I had to switch. They seem better so far anyway.

That's what I was saying, ideally the s6 Active is what I need but it's out of the question because the company plan is through Verizon and that's not changing, no way no how, unfortunately.

I just upgraded two phones to the new Iphone 6s (128GB). Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd pay $1700 for two phones. Yup $850 each... WTF!!!! They must be wicked smaht phones.

Well I am sure the Chinese are happy you did as they have been hacking Apple apps for awhile now. You could look it up.

I'm in the biz and at any given time have around a dozen different phones from all the majors and a few minors, on all four major US networks. Phones and phone OS are a pretty personalized decision, like clothes in may ways. In my case I keep coming back to an LG G3 or now G4 as my daily driver. I'd probably go to a Droid next, but the new LG made Nexus is looking nice. The iPhone OS and ergonomics do not fit me no matter how I try. Both my computers are Apples and my wife uses an iPhone, so it's not like I'm biased against Apple, though certainly I don't think they're "all that".

What you'll typically get here on THT for almost any type of product is recs for the companies with the biggest marketing budgets and resultant market share. The "conventional wisdom", if you will.

I had the exact opposite experience. This is why I gave up on them after my Iphone 4s. Thing was worthless at around 18 months. Girlfriend's 6 found its way over the gunwale earlier this summer. She tried to resort back to old Iphones we all had. 0 for 4 on getting any of our old Iphones to work between her, her roommate, and me. All were 4s or 5 and had problems even though they were all well taken care of and cosmetically perfect. All this past experience with them has me gun shy to buy another one
