We skied Jackson and snowmobiled Yellowstone last year ... Great place....

If you like Whiskey - go to the link below... They usually have a few bottles of Pappy Van Winkle and surprisingly good prices... Enjoy

Been there during ski season, but always wanted to return for a visit in summer.

Ahhhh , Jackson the liberal bastard child of Wyoming. It's a good time of year to be there. Crowds are less, more animals are out and about. I seen Waylon Jennings at the cowboy bar in 1976,the drunker he got,the better he played.

Haha your right about the liberal part, it's like the Austin of Texas.

Animal sightings today...
Herd of elk
Two moose
Mule deer

Bear has been elusive but tomorrow I'm hoping to cross that off.

How are the crowds less this time of year? Sorry, but this is prime time for Jackson. Believe it or not, the winter/ ski season is the down season in Jackon. OP, I ski Jackson every year and it is by far the best skiing I've done in NA and the most beautiful by far. Have fun!

Beautiful time of the year! Cool crisp mornings, warm days, Elk bugling, bears roaming about and great fishing!

Was there for my High Schools years. Beautiful place to visit but January and February will kill a normal person.

Man the first time I heard an Elk, I though someone was getting killed! Hope you continue to have a great visit! I worked the Old Faithful Inn waiting tables my summer after High School, don't miss Lake Yellowstone and the Madison River.

Man am I jealous, the family and I were there twice several years ago. Do the planes still let you walk off a ladder? Is that Hugh antler arbor still there. We also did the snowmobile trip into Yellowstone twice, had a fellow who first name was Jason both times, what a great guide. I REALLY miss that place.

Your one lucky bastard.....you bastard!

Many family's with kids are gone,as school has started back up. I don't know about the ski crowd,as I don't ski. i have snowmobiled many times in the park, but that was back before they put limitations on when and where you could ride.

Jackson...I was there last week...sigh. Used to be a nice town. Now the it's the Gatlinburg of the west, only for rich folks instead of rednecks. On the plus side, good food is easy to find and the countryside is beautiful. Good elk hunting around too.

If you fly into Jackson (which, btw, is the biggest airport in WY), stay in or very close to Jackson, and then fly home, don't come home and tell everyone you've been to Wyoming, 'cause Jackson ain't Wyoming.

In spite of these things, it still beats the hell out of being at home!! Enjoy the park!

Yellowstone in the Fall is the perfect time. No crowds and the elk bugling (sp?).

I worked with a guy that worked at Yellowstone for a few summers. Best story he had was when a tourist asked him "what time do they let the animals out"!

FYI, the bison are super friendly and liked to be scratched under the chin!

Have a great trip!

Drove there from VA in July a few years ago. Floated 8 or 10 miles down the Green River. My college roommate was a guide at the time. Beautiful place. Prettiest land I've ever seen. Couldn't believe the temp changes. 80 during the day and low 40's/upper 30's at night.

Downton Jackson is 1000 times better than Gatlinburg .

not saying it isnt a bit touristy ... but lets be real ... Gatlinburg is probably the most touristy spot in the Smoky Mountains ... Jackson is far from that ...

1st week of June is the time to go. Good weather and no crowds. You need to park the car and hike back into the mountains. Plenty of trails that never end. I could disappear up there for months...
