Thinking about bringing two of my kids this year. Wondering if buying VIP passes or express passes is worth the money. Anyone have experience on how long the wait times are on the haunted houses on a Thursday?

Standard passes are $50
VIP Passes are $140 (guaranteed no wait)

Very worth it or else you will not see everything there's to see.

Def get the vip. Lines are super long & without it your not seeing every attraction even on a Thursday. It's a fun time with the family if they like that sort of fun!! Have a great time

if you stay at one of Universal's 3 premier hotels *HardRock, Portofino or Royal Pacific) you get the express pass privelages for free. As a matter of fact, our kids are off school tomorrow so we are staying at Hard Rock tonight and visiting the parks tomorrow all day. You can find some good deals. Paying $189 for our room and since the express (front of all lines) passes are $89 per person its a good deal.

This is not the case for Halloween horror nights. Onsite hotel privileges for parks are just for day passes. You have to buy the vip specifically for Halloween to jump lines.

The VIP passes are a must, not even an option. When you get there you will thank everyone here later. You have not seen lines like these before......

Exactly Mike. Last year on a Thursday night 30,000 strong. Never seen it like that. The parks during the day do not even look like they do in horror nights.

Definitely get the express passes, and you must get there early. The first time I went I got there plenty early, had express passes, and it was a night that HHN was open until 2am. We were able to do every house and every ride.

I went last year, got there late due to traffic and slow service at dinner, and it was a Friday so it was only open until midnight I believe. Express passes helped, but even the express lines were long so we didn't get to do all of the houses and rides.

Still had a ton of fun and will go again this year, but definitely making sure I get there early and have express passes and go when it's open until 2am!

There seems to be a big difference between express passes and VIP....

The RIP Tour sounds nice, my only problem with it is that I like to go at my own pace (not necessarily do the houses/rides in order, stop and get ice cream, do the Men in Black ride twice) and not get stuck being whisked around the park with a group. That said, if the crowds are bad then totally skipping both the regular and express lines would be well worth it.

I don't think you can go wrong either way, and the RIP Tour does take a lot of the hassle out of figuring out where to run to first or standing in the express line that seems only slightly shorter than the normal line.

Whatever you do, just don't go in on a regular pass. I had a friend do that last year and in 6 hours of HHN being open he did one house and that was it. He waited in line for 4 hours for that one house and decided nothing else was worth it so left early.

I went once without.

Yeah that will not happen again!!

If you wanna see everything and not wait 2 hours for single house buy them!

We stayed at Portofino I don't think there was any discount and for sure weren't free..the day time express passes were free.
