When I was a young boy, I worked with pap on the farm before I joined the construction outfit. Pap used to dumpster dive for scrap wood for projects. One day while I was with him he had a massive heart attack and fell over dead in a dumpster outside of the house being built for my dad. The EMTS showed up and could not revive him. I just learned that 20 years ago today, the same medic that had tried to save him, showEd up today to save my son. Exactly 20 years to the day later!!!!

God bless you all! Great outcome and a great response from the PD and EMS. I endured this same call many years ago, but without the same positive outcome. Love your kids, as I know you do, nothing can replace em! Godspeed brother, and in a few years, I hope to see pics of shiny wet fish in a young boy's hands posted here somewhere. There's a life to be lived, and you have a say in how it's lived! Enjoy it...he'll be a man before you know it.

The irony of the situation with the EMS guy is ironic and miraculous. Great story, worthy of legacy.

Great outcome! Glad your child is okay.
FYI CPR classes are well worth the minimal investment of time and money. They cover not only basic resuscitation techniques but choking for adults, children and infants. The newest guidelines don't even involve the dreaded mouth to mouth, just chest compressions.

Wow, that's scary, glad the story ended well.

Not enough good cop stories, glad you included them.

My niece is a 1st responder, they serve a vital need and do heroic good every day.

Good grief. I got choked up just reading this. God Bless.

I had one of my little ones choke on some food - it was a terrifying 3 seconds - I can't even imagine what that was like.

Not out of the woods yet. They just took the little man to surgery. Apparently he inhaled some parts of whatever he choked on, so they got to go in and get it out of his lungs
