Unhappy Sad day - We have to put down one of our girls today

It`s going to be a long day today. One of our Labs is to the point that she is a ticking time bomb inside her gut and has to be put down. She is 13 years old and for the past year we`ve started calling her lumpy Lilly because of the small tumors growing around her body. She now has one large tumor pressing on her intestines and the other side of her gut is filling up with fluids.
She has a sibling that's been by her side all her life and I think it`s going to be tough on Hannah. Our vet said for us to bring in Hannah in as well so she can be there when Lilly passes. She said Hannah will sense that she is gone and hopefully stop Hannah from looking around trying to find her when we bring her back home. Her appt. is at 4:30 today and already can`t stop the tears from welling up inside.
At least I`ll kow we saved them both from being put down when they were puppies because nobody wanted them. So I feel as though we gave them a life which I`m grateful for. They`ve had such a wonderful life growing up in a nature preserve, running the beach, etc.

R.I.P. Lilly

Sorry catfever, that is sad to hear, and no doubt a tough thing to have to do.

Very sorry. Similar issues with our yellow at age 11 led to us putting her down.

You did good to bring them in and are doing the right thing here at the end for one.

These girls are our kids. I can`t imagine having to do this and explain to your kids why you had to put there buddy down. It`s bad enough with just the wife and I.
Thank ya`ll for the kind words.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Many of us here have experienced the pain that comes with saying good-bye to our companions. By far the hardest decision I ever had to make was to say good-bye even though I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do.

Like many others, I've been in your place and it's incredibly hard. This always helped me. Hang in there.

Sorry for your loss. We know it's a hard to make this call, our Dusty was 17 when we had to make the same decision.

You are doing the right thing, I know it doesn't help.

Our Dusty in good times

Sorry to read this catfever.

Sounds like Lilly and Hannah have had awesome lives. They couldn't ask for more, not that they ever would. You and your wife gave them both a life all dogs should have, and as hard as it is, today is part of that too.

My sincerest condolences, it will get better with time; just try to remember the happy times you had. Unquestioned love is hard to see fade away. She is in a better place now, free of all the earthly problems we all have.
