Default Proud GrandPa

I am busting with Pride today, My Grandson is on his way to Parris Island. He is now the property of the USMC. They should arrive there sometime to night. Before they left they had to prove that they could do the required PT. When it was my Grandson's turn to prove he could do them, the instructor said Wanyne you double it. He said that because he knew he could.

There was one that was over weight by a few pounds, so he did not get to load up on the van. I know that had to be a shock to him. I hope he can lose a few pounds and be able to try again.

His Granddad on his Mothers side was a Marine, he was awarded the Silver Star when he was in Vietnam. He also had two sons in the Marines. Proud family Please Thank Them for their service, I understand why you are so proud. I Salute Them.

He's hating life right about now, but in about 11 or 12 weeks he will be a changed person pissing vinegar.

I graduated from PI 13 years ago next week. Great 5 years of my life. Never regretted a second of it.

You are right, he has been there about three and a half weeks, I can already tell by his letters that he is changing. A lot of people that were in the service,(any branch) will tell you that they would not take anything for the experience. But maybe not want to do it again.

He's going at a good time too. The "noseeums" will be heading out soon so he won't have to deal with that aggravation.

Congrats!

An old SF guy I know put it best: it's an experience worth a million bucks, but I wouldn't do it again for less than 3.

Congrats to you both!
