I'm of the same mindset. At the same time there are many things that might cause this kind of thing and while I spend any reasonable amount I can for my dogs health you don't want to be chasing something that may not be there. Thyroid or otherwise. I don't even want to know what I spent on the last two i had. Worth every penny but it was lots and lots of them.

If they checked the thyroid see what they checked specifically and the value. That should help at least decide if it's worth additional testing. At a minimum it should the the t3 and t4 total values but many only check one or the other.

We have been using Dr Tim's Grain Free for a few years now and both our senior dogs are doing great on it. Also Looks like you are in my backyard. We use Baywood but I have heard good things about Chiquita Animal Hospital. If you want a second opinion, I highly recommend the Baywood people who helped us through losing two very senior dogs (over 15 yrs old each) last year and brought our now 14 year old beagle back from a near death liver issue.
Chiquita will be our second look since he was rushed to the emergency vet on pine island. I am currently up off the del Prado extension but moving down off Chiquita.

I found Chiquita after the car accident because of there water therapy they have been good to us so far.

Well we had our vet to the full blood wok and everything came out fine and he hasn't had a problem since. So not really sure what it was but will be keeping an eye on it.
