Welcome to my neck of the woods! Great video; love it!

Mead is SO FAR DOWN, Was just up in Vegas last month and the white bathtub ring just keeps getting taller. We need a VERY wet winter and snowpack in the Rockies! So, he set down about 13:00 in? Did he let you get out and wander around the desert? Hot stuff, huh?

You would be surprised how many of those choppers buzz the Stratosphere at night. We were having dinner up there last time and I don't know what's worse - seeing people go over the edge by your window or the choppers whipping by at a VERY close distance!

Looks like you had a great flight! Thanks for sharing

Thanks
Yea, its been down for 18 years now. Flight out was 45 minutes with a 30 minute stop near the bottom. We rotated our seats, my wife and I have front going out. We had a fuel stop about halfway back.
We spent 2 days at Zion and another day wandering around Red Rock National Park. Last weekend was the worst, 108F.....at least we spent both days at the pool. It was actually hotter in the helicopter. The canyon was a cool 85. Inside the copter was 95 and that was with the air all. No way around it, your in a greenhouse. The pilot is originally from CT, been flying in Vegas for 5 years now and still can't get used to the heat of summer LOL

I think I have her convinced this time we should do it.
Thanks !!

Do it!

Not cheap but I thought it was worth every penny. Maverick is great, I did Sun Dance a few years ago and was less than impressed. We had a 9am take off and we were picked up at the Bellagio at 8am. Matt was our pilot.

Looks like a great trip.

I was wondering why "the most modern touring aircraft" have a strip of yarn on the windshield for a trim indicator. Maybe it is a heads-up display to compliment the trim indicator on the dash.

I had not seen that since flying TH-55s in the 80's.

We flew a flight of Cobras below the Grand Canyon rim. That is another story after I check if the statute of limitations has expired.

We did this at the Royal Gorge a couple years ago, I tipped the pilot as soon as we got there. Once in flight he said your barf bags were located...I said we don't get sick, give us all you have. He hugged the trees until the canyon dropped off, you stomach and balls would disappear, he would dive into the canyon hugging the walls barely turning before you reached the bottom. He did the same thing coming out, it was like a skateboarder riding a half pipe. As soon as he would come out of the top the copter would go vertical until it stalled, he would rotate the cabin from facing the sky to straight down, the copter would then fly no telling how fast until it looked like you were going to hit the bottom of the canyon, then he would turn, hug the bottom , then do the same thing on the other side.

Unbelievable experience, to this day my entire family still talks about it.

Thanks for posting. My wife and I were also in Las Vegas from 8/18-8/28.

We wanted to do the Sundance helicopter tour but I felt it was too hot for her. I've heard the hotter it is, the bumpier the ride. We managed to see quite a few shows, though - from Le Revue at Wynn (very cool) to David Copperfield and Celine Dion.

We did fly the Canyon on our departure and that water was muddy for a long time until it went to very clean I guess at the headwater.

Hope you did ok at the casinos!

Did the tour from the National Park, an awesome experience, but the pilots are not permitted to fly below the rim of the canyons in the NP. Would highly recommend taking a helo tour of the GC. Also get yourself down to the river and do a raft trip thru the canyon.

We arrived 8-29 and left 9-4. It was hot, however the flight was pretty dam smooth. We also saw DC. We also went to Penn and Teller, Jeff Dunham, Jubilee and O. The later blew me away. You can see the muddy water end as it gets into Lake Meade

Very cool video, thanks for posting.

You did it right. That is the only way to really see the area.

One of my good friends flies for Maverick. Definitely a first class outfit.
They have 32 helicopters based in Vegas and 8 up at the canyon.

Loved doing a tour when I went to visit last year.
They wouldn't take the doors off, tho.

Our Pilot, Matt was a great guy. Very easy to talk to, while everyone else was taking pictures in the canyon I was asking him questions about the copter He's been flying with them for 5 years now, he's originally from CT. He said they now have a total of 47, and are in Hawaii also. 5-7 are on the ground at any given time for maintenance.
