I still dread the change from mono- to multihulls.
Lost interest from then on, I just don't care for these multi's.

If you ever get a chance to sail on one, you'll change your mind!

It looks dramatic, but I'm not sure how close it really was from that perspective. From looking at the foils, it seems like a good bit of time passes before the close boat starts to cross the far boats wake right at the end of the clip.

What I find really interesting is how fast that boat turns. Just pivots on the foil.

That skipper and I would part ways at the dock.

I was also impressed with how quick the boat turned when that action was demanded. I was looking to see if anyone got pitched with what had to be a strong lateral turn.

guy in boat going forward was supposed to yield to boat coming in on right. He should of seen that the angles weren't changing. Oh wait....are all rules off in a race?

The guy walking on deck gets thrown from the turn. Sure turns fast.

It's a race! If you have ever raced large sailboats you would understand! Sometime S--- Happens! Just like NASCAR.

Actually, in a sailing race, "Boats on a port tack shall keep clear of boats on starboard tack" (Rule 10), is a rule that typically trumps all the other rules.

In this case, the boat that veered sharply was on a starboard tack (wind coming from the starboard side of the boat), and had the right of way.

But a rule that trumps the above rule is, "Even if you have right-of-way, it is your duty to avoid a collision, once it becomes apparent that the other boat is not keeping clear" (Rule 14).

That's a crazy amount of lateral force on that one foil. That's some amazing engineering.

Who ever was driving that boat did a hell of a job at turning it.

If you look at the end of the clip, you can see the rudders under the back of each hull. They're red.

A boating disaster nearly took place in the Americas Cup. Team USA came within inches of Team New Zealand in an amazing near-miss.

Wasn't that close after looking at that video. Just a little ego and feelings hurt.
