Default VIN # Decoder

I am looking at a 2009 GMC Sierra and am trying to figure out which rear end it has, makes a big difference. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm pretty sure the dealer is the only one who can answer that with the vin. There is a tag bolted on the rear diff cover that will tell you.

Default vin decoder

open the glove box and there is a tag inside. take a picture of it, this is all of the options and what was used for the build. google option codes and you will find what you are looking for.

Not sure if you do Facebook, (I wouldn't if it weren't a necessary evil for the business) but there are loads of user groups for different body styles of trucks. I have a 99 K2500 Burb and there is often lots of valuable info on the OBS page, which makes me think there's got to be a page for newer body styles.

^^^^This. There is a code on that tag for the factory-installed axle.
