Default Smooth move

Last night I was listening to music in bed with a mp3 player and earphones. I must have fell asleep with it on (yes, I had been drinking ). Anyway, woke up, wrapped the earphone cord around the player and reached over blindly to put on my nightstand.

I hear water splash...I put the player into my glass of water!!!!

I got it out right away and dried it off. It worked this morning and I put it in a freezer container with a bunch if desiccant packages to make sure it is dry. Did the same thing with the earphones. It was working, but was turning itself on by itself also. I am hoping it will be ok after drying out a couple of days!

Put it in a ziplock bag filled with rice. The rice will pull the moisture out of the device. ::

I stopped the water-glass-in-the-bedroom many years ago when for some reason I did NOT sip any water one night only to wake up to a big hairy spider floating on the water.

Edit: BTW, the rice trick never worked for me...

The rice trick works great! In the middle of the night a bunch of Asians will come over and fix it while you sleep,

I googled and found a electronics site which recommended the desiccant packages over the rice. I have a big bag of them anyway. I did have it in rice initially though!

And give you an Asian massage while they are at it.

Open it up, remove battery and chip if can. Leave open and dry with system of choice. Silica or constant air source for 24 hours +.

Good Luck!

Last one I fried because I tried to use it after realizing it was wet. Knew better but???

I've also read that you should place that bag on top of your cable box or something that gives off a little warmth- as it'll help dry all of the circuits much sooner...

Good luck!

When you get your electronics wet you never want to turn them on until you get them dry. Years ago I had flip a canoe while fishing with a buddy and we both lost our cell phones. We ended up finding them a half hour later. I kept mine off and he turned his on and it worked for a little but Ultimately mine worked for the next year I had it and his shorted out.

There may have been booze involved
