Most people start around 5 years old in kid karts. With real good supervision and a kid that has drive other vehicles, like fast power wheels, then you can get them doing laps at 3 or 4. The biggest yes/no factor is whether the kid is scared of the engine noise. So many are. My 2 year old loves to sit in Ben's seat and rev the engine without even a helmet on. So neither of my kids mind the sound. I'll get my 2nd kid doing laps next summer at our local track. He will be three and a half by then. We'll see if he likes it. If you want your kid to try it let me know. I can set up a test day for you in your area.

You have one of the best quarter midget tracks in the country right there in NJ.

I'm "just" imagining the amount of coin you have in the hobby, and it makes a knot in my stomach....

I guess I'm not complaining anymore about the cost of swimming, tennis, gymnastics, soccer and tae kwondo.....

Congratulations!! Love it, and hopefully we'll see him at Indy in 15 yrs - or sooner! I think karting and open-wheel racing is the best!
