My doc and I are on the same page with this, mine is enlarged, asymmetric, slowly rising PSA and slowly falling % free PSA, which is why I'm getting a prostate biopsy next week.

Just coincidence, but my wife talked to her sister last night. Sister just had a breast biopsy and her husband is going in for a prostate biopsy. Getting old isn't for wimps.
My doc measured the size externally with ultrasound. 130 grams. Digital exam (Dr. Slippery-finger) tells the doc the size and firmness. PSA is prostate specific antigen. Enlarged prostates are common, and enlargement can be benign, but then the PSA is lower than a prostate with malignancy present.

The biopsy only samples needle size areas, but seems to be the best test available. I had 3 of 12 samples positive, but small portions of each sample.

Yarcraft, read Dr. Patrick Walshs book on prostate cancer..it is the bible for the treatment.

I'm expecting that I'll need to study up on this subject. Thanks for the reference.

Spot on about the biopsy
"The biopsy only samples needle size areas, but seems to be the best test available. I had 3 of 12 samples positive, but small portions of each sample"

Without the tesla 3 MRI my urologist / surgeon said the biopsy he did with 20 needles would have missed the cancers.
.
Then I spent 5 hrs in theatre while the two surgeons worked at getting it out.

We wait for the next thing.

Good thing one has time when retired to deal with all the sh^t that one has to deal with.

Make sure to follow the pre - op for the screening. These polyps are flat. The cleaner it is in there the easier to detect and not MISS the polyps.

I do not eat for a day and a half sometimes 2 days before the pre op procedure.

I had some "front end" work (vs. rear end) done at the urologist about 3 years ago.

It was NOT pleasant, although the results were "negative"!

I think they sent in a full CAMERA CREW and some FLOODLIGHTS (along with the camera-on-a-wire thingy)!

Regards,

I expect there will be an audience. If it shows up on the 6:00 news, then I'll be upset.

I had diVinci robotic procedure. Went to sleep at 10 am, was walking at 5 pm that evening....sorta. 3" incision above navel, few other small incisions. Was glued together.

I have a sign on my butt that says "one way, do not enter". I guess no one could read.....
