Default We believe he had a knife?

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...olding-n420481

I'm not buying "We believe he had a knife", because wouldn't they have know right away since they shot him and he's just lying there.

Wouldn't they have found it right away and made mention of a knife right away?

I feel a mighty grasping of straws here?

Is it just me?

Didn't know anything about it but the video does NOT look good for the police.

Piss poor journalism? I'm sure they know if there was a knife or not.

I can tell you this I saw him adance on this officers at least once. Suicidal individuals are homicidal many times also. They should be able to enlarge the video and verify..

Just before the shooting. In their defense he supposedly cut someone and this situation occurred 20 minutes into trying to make the arrest but still... hands up, shirt off but one hand obscured. A second video hasn't been released but my guess it won't look good for the officers either or it would have already been released.

This site has the raw video from the witness on it.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/02/us/san...lice-shooting/

It looked to me like the guy had something in his hand when he ran out of the house, and right before they shot him he bent over really quick and reached down low. He is also seen at one point holding something behind his back. Hopefully the cops had body came on and the truth comes out in this one. Just like all of these at first glance it looks like the cops are dirty but upon closer examination you start to see what really happened...

Media is trolling...

Just to get responses from the general public.

It is reported he had a knife or he had a knife Would that be so difficult to report?????

No. The 2nd video has been sent to the crime lab to enlarge and enhance in a desperate effort to exculpate the officers. Let me suggest that those efforts will do nothing more than cloud the issue. Leave it to a distraught husband to bring a knife to a gunfight. Without menacing anyone at the time, and with his hands up, his was given the death penalty.

The police response to such an agitated and possibly suicidal individual should have been to save his life, not take it. Police officers risk their lives to save suicidal bridge jumpers. Why not this guy? How would waiting another 5 minutes have increased their risk? To me, it appears that as soon as the guy began complying, they let him have it.

Looks bad. Just saw it on Nancy Grace and blown up it looks just as bad. These cops appear to be toast. Can't understand how they could have shot him then. Before, maybe.

Where's the knife? Should have been found afterwards.

I'm not saying the shooting was justified but I saw that too, and that "hands-up" was less than genuine. Fool me once, shame on me...

This is one of those things that will take some time to sort out, but of course by then everyone will be so cemented in their opinion that facts won't matter.

It's bad journalism or "impartial" investigators staying on message. There doesn't need to be a knife for this to be justified but if the officer "believes" there is a knife it's a whole different ball of wax.

I agree....hopefully they can totally put any doubts to rest .... Many times over the years I have dealt with this kind of stuff.

Tonight we had a guy high on molly and PCP that it took 3 officers and 2 young men to get him handcuffed and a whole fire crew to help get him on a stretcher.... My partner commented how if we did not have help and he was threatening, we would have had to shot him to stop him...

Doesn't matter, he didn't comply so he got the consequences...next.
