Default RTIC coolers

So the other day I thought I'd give the people over at rtic coolers a call and see if they knew when they would start shipping out coolers. I'm really wanting to find unbiased reviews as I have the option to cancel my preorder. The lady was nice and said they would start shipping mid September. Great can't wait for them to Ship and I asked if they were offering anything special for the people that preorder. Thought it would be nice if they offer something as we pay up front with out anything being shipped yet. She said she would ask and a gentleman answered and asked if I had issues with billing or shipping. I told no just curious and I again asked if they offering any "kickbacks" for the people that pre-ordered. Maybe it came out different than I thought but his response was what do you mean kickbacks I don't like that word but if you give me your order number I'll refund you. I said I'm not upset and was just wondering if there was any extras or discount that yall might offer. And he said we offer a cooler at less than half the price of the competition. So I said ok just asking and he said call back when you want to cancel. I'm not mad but just baffled that it seemed he wanted me to cancel. What do yall think? Was it wrong that I asked, I don't feel I'm owed anything more than what I ordered but figured I'd ask.

Doesn't sound like he was too appreciative of your "investment" in their company.

Ok, so let me get this straight, you see a pre-order discount price on there website, and you want even more of a discount;?

What do you do for a living, if I pay you before the day starts, can I pay you less then what you normally get;?

The point I've was trying to get across was that it was just a question. I never felt I am owed anything more than what I paid for just thought it would be nice. I paid their full retail price and u less I miss read something I could pay the same price in a few months and have my item shipped and not wait for a month. But again I'm fine with that. Your analogy sucks by the way. They aren't working for me, I'm investing in them

Sounds like the owner is annoyed at people asking and prepared to refund the money immediately rather than try to defend the delays they've experienced.

I'd bet he doesn't mind refunding pre-order money because when they hit the market with reliable inventory they'll be selling plenty of coolers.

Of course I could be totally wrong.

I'm sure they will ship maybe others have been asking about extras too. I wasn't trying to be a pain just curious. If he would have said no were not offering anything I would have felt the same. I'm still excited about it and can't wait. Just didn't understand why he was so quick to want to refund me, maybe a bad day for him? who knows. Any ways they say mid September is when we should expect them to ship

Yes when i signed up for the free preorder they would be shipping in August. Then get the email wanting money but would not ship till mid sept i just didn't go on with it. If they get inventory in and can ship a day or 2 after i pay for it i may buy one then. Im not paying when the shipping target keeps moving.

The word "kickback" generally implies an underhanded transaction to an honest business person.

Could have just asked for a sticker or T-shirt. Why all the run around?

Because, essentially, they used you (the customers) to finance the business, and put simply, the credit facility is over subscribed and they no longer need you as part of the syndicate.

Easier to just cancel you out rather than you brag about how you got a discount and their phone starts ringing off the hook worse than it already is for non-delivery. Then suddenly the syndicate is under subscribed

I dont think the OP was off base at all. Simple question for someone he is giving his hard earned money to. No need for him to be made to feel awkward by RTIC. Saying that his discount is "a cooler at half the price of the competition" is a very unprofessional answer. Congratulations, you reverse engineered a YETI (which I refuse to buy) and beat a patent lawsuit.... maybe...no one has received their coolers yet. Fact of the matter is that all those pre-orders was an interest free loan to RTIC to give them enough capital to purchase a huge bulk order from China to cut their margins down to assist in their price point.

So yeah, OP wants to know if he's going to get something extra. Sounds legit to me. You all should.

Oh and here's a screenshot of a live chat I just had on their website. Confirms my china suspicion as well as OPs Sept timeframe for all you early "investors"

Yeti makes coolers in the Philippines and in the US (in Iowa and Wisconsin)

I've never heard they were made in Mexico. Maybe one of their accessory products are.
