I'm looking for an insert to go inside of that.
That sits about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the pot and my crabs get boiled on the bottom, looking to raise.

My wife got it for me for my birthday but it is a deep fryer and not a steamer, trying to add the insert to go in the insert to make it both.

How much room from top of basket to top of pot where lid is?

Put a brick in bottom of pot? Use bolts/washers/nuts to make a "stand?"

No room, the lip of the insert sets right into the top of the pot.
I was thinking something round with legs for cleaning purposes.

Thanks for the idea with bolts & nuts.

I use a cheap Wok base to raise mine. Nothing worse than wet crabs.

Just cut it half into, and use some stainless steel bolts to raise it to the required height. Then re attach your handle.

David

Or check with some commercial kitchen supply stores.

If that fits completely into the fry pot with resting on the rim, then get three or four bolts, washers and nuts. Stick them through the bottom and tighten the nuts up to the bottom to form legs. You can choose the height that you want.

If you need to put a false bottom in that pot get a pizza screen, they come in several sizes and some bolts with two nut/washer combos on each. Put the legs on form the bottom of the screen and set into the basket.

Put 4 shot glasses under it. Works for me. The 5th shot glass? That one is for me!

Put a hardware cloth spacer in the bottom of the basket. When your ready to fry, lift it out. You don't have to cut the basket at all. I do it all the time steaming crabs.
