Everything is a compromise. For the same money, a desktop will be more powerful. People are willing to sacrifice power and spend more in order to gain mobility. Somewhere along teh line, we forgot that piece.

I'm still amazed when I go to the office and see so many laptops that never leave their docking stations, yet the people insisted that they needed the mobility.

Desktops are cheaper, more powerful, and easier to upgrade.

Short answer, yes. If you're on 7, stay on 7. If you're on 8.1, move to 10.

The desktop is the least use piece of electronics in my house; I almost wish it would die just so I would feel better about trashing it. Everyone now has a laptop and that is all they use.

It's downloading now. Been on about an hour. Anxious for a change.

The upgrade went pretty smoothly for me. You'll still have tiles off the start menu for those who actually liked metro from 8.1, but win7 users will be ok with navigation as well.

It's not fully cooked yet - some things are still in control panel but not accessible via settings yet, but it looks like future upgrades will be like chrome - incremental, on their schedule, updates.

Still getting used to edge browser.

I prefer desktops, but everybody in my house has a desktop, laptop and ipad.

I just picked up a serious laptop at a pawn shop. It's an alienware 18 inch with 32gigs of ram...plus it has crazy lights everywhere!

I might put it on ebay though. It's worth about a thousand bucks more than I paid for it. Gotta love the little pawn shops in the middle of nowhere!

You can also pin things to that little tile window, which is kinda nice.
