Default Lanyard

Doing a switch replacement and some troubleshooting. - does the safety lanyard open or close a circuit. Thanks I suspect it sends something to ground. So if it is not connected in the back the of the dash from the ignition switch to the lanyard will or will (or should )not start?

I have no intention of running with out it BTW no lectures please not sure the lanyard switch is working properly

Thanks!

I am going to the marina and will bring back my ohmeter so it will be easy to tell - by testing continuity of the L switch....

There were 4 terminals which threw me, than I realized it was one switch for two motors which I do not have on this boat. I am figuring any two will do but will find out with the meter....

Don't ya just hate that chit Bob? I already practicly have two sets of hand tools, one for home and one on the boat. But when it comes to stuff like meters and boroscopes or power tools it's either at home or on the boat but not where you need it when you need it.

I think it depends on the brand or the switch. With my current kill switch, the engine will not start or run without it. My previous kill switch, the engine would run without it. With this set up it would only kill the engine if the lanyard was in, then pulled away, yet if you never installed the lanyard the boat would start and run without it.
