Default The coolest famous person..

Who is the coolest famous person you ever met? My friends and I were eating dinner at the Ritz Carlton in San Juan, PR. We noticed that Ron Wood from the Rolling Stones was eating at the table next to us. We obviously didn't disturb him. He appreciated this as I am sure he saw that we recognized him. After he was done eating he came over to our table and introduced himself as well as his friends. He also wanted to know our names and where we were from. Must have spent 10 minutes hanging out with us. Very nice gesture.

Jimmy Carter. Eating dinner in Colorado, notice a table full of secret service guys, then look around and see the former president eating dinner too. Not too many people in the restaurant because of a blizzard. Just looked over at him and ordered dinner. When he was done eating he came over shook everyone's hand, nice man.

Met Diane Lane when she was filming Nights In Rodanthe. My wife and I were having dinner at the restaurant 1587, I looked across the room and noticed she was eating by herself. After dinner she talked with us for about 15 minutes about what only god knows. I was too busy just looking at her

20 plus years ago my wife and I had my truck , camper and horses off the beaten path in Utah camping and riding.
Robert Redford ( Who lived in Utah) drove up and spent about 2 hours talking about horses, the history of the area & having lunch with us.

As he was leaving and thanking my wife for the lunch...my wife who has a impish sense of humor.. said..
" Mr Redford I would NEVER impose and ask for your autograph.....BUT.. if by chance you could get me Paul Newman's....I would be SO grateful!"
That just totally cracked Mr Redford up.....we all laughed so hard we had tears.

A really nice guy.

Another quick story.... About 18 months ago, I was working out in the state of Washington. My boss lived there and had a son that played football for Gonzaga Prep. He asked me if I wanted to see one of his son's games. We get to the game and we sit in the bleachers. He introduces me to one of the other parents. He says "hey John, I want you to meet a friend of mine." The guy turns around and its John Stockton. Sitting on a stadium blanket with a concession stand coffee in a styrofoam cup. We hung out and watched their kids play the whole game. Just a regular guy..... Of course also a 10 time NBA All-Star, MVP, assist and steals record holder, and probably the best point guard of all-time....... But still a regular guy..... Styrofoam cup concession stand coffee... No kidding!!

The steakhouse there is the best steak I have ever had.

In Mexico Jennifer Aniston was at our resort. My buddy and I had been fishing all day and then got hammered. There were only two tables seated in the restaurant. Us, and the table next to us. We were so hammered we didn't realize it was Jennifer Aniston. Totally ignored her. Got a few hundred dollar bottle of tequila and a thank you note from her the next day sent to our room.

Telly Savalas was a cool guy. I was on the QEII back in 1985 and he and his brother were there. My dad and brother met Dale Earnhardt a few times in the Abacos, They both had Hatt 50's at eh time and Dale let my dad copy the custom layout of his forward stateroom that Allied had done for him. Jack Niklaus is also supposed to be a hoot, but yo wouldn't want some of the stuff he says when he used to get pissed off at Greg Norman (which apparently happened a few times) be leaked to the press. i am sure that a number of you Florida guys probably ran into Kelly McGillis at her restaurant in Key West. She seemed like a nice gal and even worked the front hostess station at times treating the customers.
The one famous guy that I ALMOST got to meet but didn't and I am still bummed about, is Michael Palin. We were in Cuba for the Hemingway Tournament when he was supposed to be there doing his, well, special on Ernest Hemingway and he wanted to go out marlin fishing. The Commodore of the Yacht Club told Palin's advance people that my dad's 65 Monterey was about the only boat in the tournament that year with an English speaking crew where you could comfortably put a full camera crew in the cockpit and still fish the tournament properly. Unfortunately, he got delayed and didn't come down until like two weeks after.

I have met so many famous people I can't even remember them all. I used to work at the Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando next to Universal Studios so they would all come in and eat when they were at the park. Remember seeing Dan Marino so hammered that I had to help him up the stairs from the bathroom with his arm over my shoulder. Michael Anthony from Van Halen was by far one of the nicest, most down to earth guys. Used to see Shaq on an almost nightly basis, he would come see me, order a double brownie with a three scoops of ice cream and a pitcher of OJ and throw me $100 tip. Got to know him pretty well, he lived on the chain of lakes we used to ski on, we would pull up to his house, his butler would get his jet ski ready and he would come out and hang with us for awhile.

My wife's cousin is a very well sought after sound and light guy and when he comes to town, we hang out with him and all the bands. Last band he came to town with was John Mellencamp and we hung out with all of them for hours after the show. He did the sound for Michael Jackson and Bonjovi, used to tour with Kiss and Maroone 5. Most of the ones I have met want to be treated and respected like everyday people and I find if you avoid talking about their profession, they will sit and shoot the shit with you for hours. Tim Burton just finished filming a movie at the end of my street, nice guy, but the production stuff was more of a nightmare due to all the activity.

Met Jeff Foxworthy on my honeymoon in Costa Rica. Super nice and friendly. We just happened to be checking out at the same time. Starting chatting he was carrying his own bags just like a regular guy. Couldn't have been nicer. Even offered to take a picture with us. My biggest regret about this was the timing.

Two weeks later my I convinced my wife and her sister to go shooting. We head out to the farm and the wife's sister thinks it is the funniest thing ever to throw the skeet with the hand thrower. She was wildly inaccurate with it. Anyway I am waiting for her to throw one, she slings it and it hits me right in the face. Huge cut across the forehead blood dripping. Had that happened two weeks prior I feel like Jeff could have used, "if you have ever been attacked with a skeet...you might be....,."

Never met him but I've heard a lot of stories about bill Murray being a riot, a few people I know who live in NYC have posed in some pretty funny pictures with him,

Either Hulk Hogan or Ron Jeremy. Met the Hulkster when I was a kid and only got to spend about ten minutes with him but he was very nice and cool. Several years ago I got to take out Ron Jeremy for the night and we spent most of the night at the bar for a work thing. He was awesome and very down to earth. Initially I know y'all are probably laughing and like wtf, that is till you see first hand the quantity \ quality of chicks he pulls ! I was " just along for the ride " but certainly wasn't complaining lol!!!

Also back in 2006-07 I got to spend many a nights out with a bunch of the Baltimore Ravens partying and while the vast majority of them were awesome and very down to earth - there def were some that were riding high on their horse and believed their shit didn't stink but good times for sure!
