Default Lawsuit happy people

So here is the story.

I own a company and have 8 project managers out on the road in company cars.

Yesterday, one of my guy's taps the bumper of a 1986 POS Dodge p/u truck.

There was a scratch on the bumper of our vehicle.

His rear bumper was slightly bent under (I could have taken a pair of Channel lock pliars and straightened it out.

The other party exit's the vehicle and falls on the ground in severe pain.

My driver assumed there was no damage and it would be a "no harm, sorry"

Full paramedic support with backboard and neck brace to the hospital.

It just amazes me how some people are looking for a free lunch.

I'm reasonably sure he couldn't wait to get his script at the hospital for pain pills and reach out to an ambulance chasing lawyer to sue my insurance company.

What has happened to our society?

Hold on. Which one was it? Either your driver damaged the other vehicle or he didn't. Sounds like he did.

Since I have been unemployed I've been watching the court TV shows like Judge Judy, Judge Mathis, and a couple more that I don't recall. It's amazing how many of the people that are on the show that say they received a settlement from a lawsuit.

I have a guy that I occasionally fish with that sued a local restaurant. Him and his wife are big boozers and they were drunk when they left the restaurant. The wife tripped on a step that is painted yellow and broke her ankle. I don't know what else the restaurant could do other than paint it yellow or find a way to remove it. He sued them and he didn't even have to go in front of a judge. The restaurant offered them a settlement so they wouldn't take it to court and they took the settlement money.

One good thing is the same guy above sued a VFW because he burned his hands from a deep fryer. Before he got involved in the lawsuit someone @ the VFW would film him drinking shots and beer. He goes to the VFW almost every day to start his daily drunk chase. The VFW would not offer any settlement so it went to court. The VFW showed a series of video's of him drinking and he lost the lawsuit.

Morgan and Morgan for sure.

Ever wonder why your insurance premiums are so high?

This will be the first claim for my company since I started it in 2004.

My current General Liability policy is $35,000 a year, paid in two $17,500 installments.

Umbrella Policy is $4,500.

Company fleet policy $8,900

Morgan and Morgan is stealing from me.

Run Naked and you are done.

Anyone think about starting a business. Get ready for the big screw job.

When anyone complains about how much new boats cost, I refer to the above.

You are paying Morgan and Morgan when you buy a new boat, sort of.....

Yes my driver damaged the other vehicle. Minor little bump.
What is your point?
Please go back and read my OP. It's all there.
Sorry, a little on edge about this.

If you got together the group of us on here that are, or have in the past been insurance adjusters, the stories would make your head explode. The amount of money spent defending or settling this crap is mind boggling. Yet since its seen as "it's ok, it's the insurance companies money", nobody cares. Yet everyone complains about their insurance premium.

My ex-sister in law was sitting at a light in Largo, Fl. Suddenly the car in front of her backs hard into her Dodge durango. The SIL was pulling an unloaded trailer.

The four occupants all got out and sat on the curb. Rubbing their necks and in supposed pain. They were speaking with a European accent and would not speak to her.

The cops showed up and cited the SIL.

Her insurance company says it happens all the time. And depending upon whether or not the trafffic cameras are working, it is their word against yours. And there is always at least four or five of them.

Dash cameras are your friend.

That is what is a shame. Proving your innocence.....

Sorry, a little on edge about this.
My point is you sound like you are in denial. Re-read your own original post with that in mind.

Although i dont think i like them because of privacy concerns the black boxes installed in all newer cars will be helping to stop a fair amount of this.

Daytime TV has one ad after another, trolling for people that want to sue. It show happy customers bragging about their big settlements.

Many people have neck and back issues. One wrong jolt, bump, bumper tap and it's off to the hospital for these poor souls. They end up back on pain medication, doctors care, cat scans, Mri, surgery, physical therapy, ect..... Neck and/or spine issues is horrible.
