Default Any Pool Experts here?

I have a customer that has a koi pond with a Ultra Violet UltimaII 2000 multi port valve that is leaking.

I know they are relatively simple inside, and it's probably just a gasket; however the customer put ground up oyster shells in the pond for salt and they got inside the valve. The grinding noise was loud for a while, and I believe it's just shot.

I think that may put it slightly above just a gasket change right? The shells were very fine.

Does anyone know if a hayward multi port valve or parts will fit this multi port? Ultra Violent is mainly for agriculture uses; where hayward is mainly pools. I would presume that hayward is alot larger company, and may OEM the valve for UV.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. UV does not sell the multi port valve assembly according to their website.

Thanks!

David

Try Praher if you can't find a multi-port valve from the usual sources.
A couple of good pics and I can tell if it is knock-off/copy of a name brand.

Can you post a pick showing more of the handle. Looks like it could be hayward, and what is leaking?

It will be next week.

Backwash back in the pond, and on the waste out. 6" drop in 24 hours.

There is a new gate valve on the waste that's shut off, that I think is allowing water through.

The multi port I know needs to be changed due to the shells. I turned the pump off and the drain floor drain valve off to see if it stops dropping.

Probably needs a new spider / spoke gasket. When you unbolt the handle assembly it will be inside the valve.

This is still what I think is wrong with it. Can you not see the end of the backwash to tell if the secondary valve is not holding? One test you can do is to run the equipment for a certain amount of hours then off for the same amount of hours and compare the water loss. More water loss while the system is running indicates a plumbing issue, same water loss regardless if system is on or off indicates a liner issue. Clamps are being used to prevent any cracking of the valve where fittings are screwed into it, no biggie unless its leaking. Sand filters usually need a good rinse after backwash to prevent any dirty water from going back into the pond so if this is not being done then that might explain the backwash water you are talking about.

Didn't see this, so what happened?
P.S. Valve still looks like a Hayward

I just picked up one of these, and I have not pulled the original apart yet. Is there a gasket on the bottom portion of it? I got the gasket for the seal (around screws/bolts). But is there suppose to be a gasket on the bottom?

We closed it, and closed the drain for the pond and it has not leaked any. So I am confident we are on the right track.

I take it back, I picked up one of the valve key tops pictured linked above. But did not get the bottom gasket.

The guy I was speaking with said there was not a gasket for it and he was wrong. I called back right before they closed and he said he would have to size the gasket up. This doesn't help too much bc the pool store are closed until Monday.

I do not want to pull it apart until I am able to do it all at once.
