Portable Battery Packs....what do you have?

Hey Guys,

I have to buy a couple of these for work and since we are kind of in a remote location(an island)I will be buying over the internet. What brandmodels do you have and are you happy with them? Features that are a waste of money(inverter, air compressor)? Do you recall what you paid?

I really only need the jump start capabilty but would like to hear any comments.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

the only ones I've seen with an inverter or air compressor were heavy. I would make sure that it has a charge state meter on it, and a 12V accessory plug, but wouldn't really want anything beyone that. If I am going to deal with more weight I would want more amps rather than features.

I bought the Vector "Power on Board" model from Sam's Club....think it was about $40....thought the air compressor was a gimmick but I've been surprised how much I've used it just for kid's bike tires (sure beats hauling the bike to the gas station)...no inverter, just 12VDC power...have never actually had to jump-start my car, bought it mainly as back-up and I can carry it on the boat...

2 MAC Tools JNC6250....used every day, several times a day at my shop. Good units. 20 pounds with 1650 peak amps, 360 crank amps. LED charge indicator. We use them for jumping dead car and truck batteries all the time.

I don't recall the model but it is the one in a watertight case from WM, high amps and a single 12 v outlet, simple, strong and understated. About $100.00 ........

I have been told a vibrator will eat a rechareable battery in no time at all....get the type that plugs into the wall. And one more thought Andy....stop playing "look honey, I can hold it without using my hands"!
