No address or tool bars

If I go onto IE I just get the google screen (my home page) and no address bar or any other tool bar so I can go to another site but then can't get out because no tool or address bars show. Chrome works OK - how to I fix IE?

Doesn't work - turns sound on and off

Appreciate any knowledgeaable people answers but I agree with air brush here - an dyep...I'll try googling different combinations of the question. I also do not have the start menu or any of the bottom bar icons either so the suggestions on the microsoft website didn't work

Right click on shaded header area top of IE window. Should bring window where you can make bar selections.

Hit the alt key.

Then turn the tool bars back on.

Thanks - almost there - didn't see the shade till I pushed cursor to top so now I have the address bars and favorites bar but they go away as soon as I click on a site and still don't have the bottom screen stuff like start button, wireless strength,, Skype an dbrowser choices, etc. - even if I drop the cursor there - but this is at least workable.

I may have bigger issues also as I posted last week - this computer is over 5 years old Windows 7 and is slow and the fan runs continuously if I have several windows open.

Thanks again

The disk might be getting errors. I was having similar problems on my XP pc. One day the disk was dead. System would not boot. I was able to fix the errors by attaching it via USB to a win 7 laptop and running chkdsk.

Open the command program and run as administrator (right click and select 'run as administrator')
type: CHKDSK /R

This command might run for several hours. You might get a message that it can't access the operating system. It will ask if you want to schedule the command at the next restart. If you get this, reply yes or y. Next, reboot the PC and the command will run when the OS starts.

In the case of my dead XP drive, I ran this command for 2 weeks. It ended when win 7 booted to load fixes but in the end the disk was fixed and I'm using it right now to access THT.

Eh I got a call from"Microsoft" today. Saying I have a virus on my laptop and how I can clean it for free. The guy didn't want to hear no, until I said I am with the homeland security dept as an it specialist.
He didn't like that answer

The # was 800-123-456
Total scam.
