Wow! Watched him as a kid, he was one of the favorites of the day for sure. Sad at 69, he was young.

Ken? I never remember anyone ever calling him Ken. He was always Kenny. Or Snake. ESPN must have some millennial writing this stuff.

To me, Al Davis, John Madden and Kenny Stabler were the prototypical Oakland Raider bad boys.

What was that like? Did you know immediately that he would be an All Pro and win the Super Bowl?

RIP Snake. The Raiders were my team back in the 70's.

He called a buddy of mine and talked to him a minuet while we were playing cards one night a few years ago. Was drinking in a bar in Mobile with a mutual friend who put him up to it. Always thought that was pretty cool.

He was the hero of our rival team Foley HS. My older sister (9 yrs) was in Fairhope HS and our family went to games but I was too young to know then. I was only interested Chic-O-Sticks.

John Madden wrote in his book that whenever training camp opened....they'd have to send an assistant coach to Mobile to drag him out of the bars and bring him back...RIP

Great quarterback. ..hard core player!!

I did notice in the news story linked above.. it said he was surrounded by his daughters and "long time partner" While I don't care, that wording struck me as odd...
