Default 2010 Ford Escape -thoughts?

Looking at a 2010 Escape v6 with 44k miles for my wife. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with escapes around this vintage? There are some negative comments about transmission issues online.

I bought my daughter the same car. It had an electrical issue right after we bought it but they replaced the harness. A CV joint went bad around 50k miles but she drives it hard. Other than those 2 issues, I've never spent a dime other than regular maintenance.

My inlaws have one. And also have a RAV4. Same years and mileage. I believe 09. The toyota still feels new and the ford feels like it has 300k miles on it. I wouldn't get one. After 70k miles it needed shocks, alternator and exhaust manifold is leaking.

Thanks. Overall reviews seem decent. Only thing that worried me are the transmission issues I read about online.

Bought one for my daughter last year (certified). My son-in-law is a Ford ASE mechanic and was well aware of the tranny problems. There are configurations to be avoided, and he was able to cross-reference the VIN for the trans; and it was fine.

She's had no problems, and we bought one for my Mom after another daughter totaled Mom's cute little yellow Ford Ranger this winter.

Both are in good shape. After another 2-3 years . . . we'll see. The 2012 and 2013 models (with the body change) definitely have a bad rep; we avoided those without question.

Doesn't tow as well as a Rav4... from what I've been told.

You are correct sir.

I had a friend, that had a friend, that had a second cousin, who had a brother that knew somebody that had a Rav4 for pulling his boat and had to tow it up hill both ways.

You guys make jokes.. bottom line is I have a 29' cat with twin 350 outboards and my Rav4 pulls it just fine.. Albeit I have an intake, header and exhaust upgrade as well as 17" wheels with mud tires.. It pulls damn well... Make sure you put 93 octane and not a need for you to worry.
