Default Charles Manson and "Helter Skelter"

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Manson

"Manson believed in what he called "Helter Skelter", a term he took from the song of the same name by the Beatles. Manson believed Helter Skelter to be an impending apocalyptic race war, which he described in his own version of the lyrics to the Beatles' song."

And yet, amazingly, Beatles albums weren't ripped from the shelves of record stores...

Our society should not use the beliefs and rationalizations of insane individuals as a vehicle for social change or "progress."

Why would the Beatles records be taken off shelves? Our society knows perfectly well you don't cower to the beliefs of a deranged nut!

If the album offends anybody it should be banned.

I doubt there were any activist groups waiting for an excuse to pull Beetles records off shelves.

Or any deep seeded hate groups marching with copies of the "White Album" in hand.

Clinical Psychologist, working as a contractor on a military base, and a private practice as a sideline.

You mean, like these guys? As bad as I hate to say it, and as bad as I hate their message, they have the same rights as the New Black Panther Party.

Charles Manson just got married in prison and probably believes his revolution is just beginning. Don't forget to play the White album backwards.

Ok..... Please relax and and tell me why the Beatles Helter Skelter album should be removed from the store shelves after the Sharon Tate murder by Charles Manson and his followers. Please induce common sense into your thoughts before you answer.

Could it be our society didn't use the believes and rationalizations of insane individuals as a vehicle for social change or "progress"?

It's my believe that society as a whole collectively will always choose what's right for humanity.

Our society of the 1970's did not respond to the Manson Family murders in an irrational manner. The idea of banning a Beatles album due to the incoherent rantings of a paranoid schizophrenic makes exactly as much sense as (today's) banning and removing the confederate battle flag from public buildings, 35 year old TV shows, and public view following a racist's mass murder of innocents.

It is my belief that you missed the obvious sarcasm in my original post.

Bringing up a murderous event in our history for the sake of sarcasm in my book is not the proper thing to do.
Especially when the comparison is way off the mark. You place a rock-n-roll album on the same plane as the Confederate flag!

Having a civil conversation on the meaning of the Confederate flag to African Americans and for that matter all other Americans in light of the Charleston church murders is a subject that deserves serious attention and not sarcasm.

Perhaps "irony" rather than "sarcasm"...
