Default Where to find Keys?

I don't know if any of you have tried to replace your car/ truck's computerized ignition key........man are they pricey. Does anyone know where one can get them cheaper?

Keep in mind that most of the newer vehicles the keys have to be programmed to the vehicle so when buying them offline if they aren't compatible you have no recourse....and the dealer is still going to charge you for programming it even if it doesn't work as it wasn't their key...So you won't save anything...as matter of fact you could end up further in the hole....

Oh so very true. Later this morning I will be making a few calls to get the low-down and skinny on everything. With Honda wanting $110 for a "single" key I figure it is worth my effort to shop around.

my cousin got locked out of his moutaineer a couple of weeks ago when he lost his keys. Called the dealership, it was going to cost $110 bucks for the key, plus they had to have the vehicle towed in (about 15 miles). The service manager told him a locksmith to call who had the equipment to program the electronic keys. Charged 100 bucks to get into the car and make the first key, then 50 for an extra key. In most cases, if you only want a door key, you can have them made nearly anywhere. This will be sufficient if you just want to get into your car if you lock the keys in it.

MB keys are sick

Maserati makes you want to throw up. If all the keys are not there the ones missing will not work.

I had to replace the 2 keys and transmitters for my wifes 05 MDX..

I have the invoice right here..
Transmitters $ 85.72
Key & program $ 49.50

x2 $ 270.44
tax $ 16.22
Total $ 286.66

I was pissed having to pay that much but after seeing Just 1's I got a bargain.

Actually, when I bought the car, used,Carmax only had one key so they told me to go to a Volkswagen dealer and get another one and they paid for it right away.
