Thumbs up Turks and Caicos Trip Info

Hey gang. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for a 5 day trip to the Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos. We're staying at the Sands on Grace Bay. We have a couple excursions planned, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone had any "Must do" type recommendations for things to do, places to see or places to eat/drink. I appreciate any input!

Thanks!

Stayed at the Sands back in 2014, had a 1br oceanfront. The island itself is still truly unspoiled like the rest of the Caribbean. British island and everything is very pricey.

1/2 gallon of OJ at the market was $6-7, stick of butter $3, restaurants high priced, ect.... Rent a car and head over the the other side over by Chalk Sound, some of the most beautiful beaches with the clearest water I have ever seen. Didn't have a chance to take the ferry over to the other islands but it would be something on my list for next time.

We rented a house about a mile down the road from Grace Bay. Actually had a cocktail and dinner your resort. Very good food BTW and the infinity bar is pretty unique.

Other things to do:
Da Conch Shack is a must- get some punch along w/ the conch
Snorkeling- since we were so close I'm assuming near the resort would be similar but the snorkeling off the beach was very good. Good viz and nurse sharks, lobsters (out of season) and a fair few fish.
Diving- if certified the diving is also very good. Lots of walls and slots.
I would say we didn't find the locals to be the friendliest people so keep that in mind when traveling around the island.

Going in July for our sixth time...best island I've ever been to. Like others said, just bring your wallet. Only island I have been to that was pricier was Bermuda!

Bring plenty of cash. beer ain`t cheap. This was a 6pk price. I`d second the Conch Shack. We also chartered a boat for a fishing trip. Great trip, caught plenty of fish.

Check out Jimmy's Dive Bar and the mini-golf course in Provo after dark. The mini golf course was wild to put it mildly.

Beer is shockingly expensive. I want to say I paid $85 for a case of Corona if I recall. Bambarra is the local rum of choice. It's not too bad.

I have a little more time to type now.

Everything is stupid expensive as the others have eluded to.

I don't remember beer being $85, but it was up there bumping $50 or so for a case. It's worth it…….the place is beautiful…..blow it out.

Snorkeling is a must, we chartered a boat by ourselves and went all day. If you can, go bone fishing…….we rode from Provo to MIddle and Lower Caicos and fished all day without seeing another boat or person.

We rented a car instead of paying taxis, that way you can hit most other places on the island in one day and don't have to worry about waiting around or paying for the transportation.

Anyway, enjoy……best vacation we have ever been on. One of the few places we will actually go back.
