Default New York Times - luxury speed boat comment

Did any of you catch the article in the NYT about Marco Rubio buying an $80,000 luxury speedboat to demonstrate his financial unfitness? I know the rules about politics here and I am not a Rubio fan or detractor. What I find interesting is how the media spins stuff all the time. In Rubio's case the guy bought a 24 foot Everglades, nice for sure, but Luxury speedboat is quite different than a center console fishing boat especially to the average citizen.

Also, to the nonboater, $80,000 seems like a mint, maybe it is, but there are a ton of people here who own boats worth significantly more than $80 grand. I cant stand the media in general and this is yet another example of them doing a hit piece. I dont recall the same paper for attacking then Senator Kerry for buying a $43 million sailing yacht? I will admit if I had big ketchups money, I too would buy a big boat, most of us here would. It is the hypocrisy in the media here that is ruining our nation and being petty too. Oh no, a guy from Miami Florida who wants to be President bought a 24 foot boat! Stop the the presses/ The NYT is a joke.

The NYT has devolved into nothing more than an op ed magazine and mouth piece for the Democratic party.

Yeah that's pretty absurd...but totally predictable. I would think his speaking fees make him a pretty decent income?

Here's the article: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/10/us...edit.html?_r=0

Yet the NYT dodged when John Kerry had a multimillion dollar sail boat that he kept in another state to avoid $500K in taxes in his home state of Massachusetts.

You forgot to mention, however, that their Pulitzer prize winning investigative journalists broke the story that he had 4 parking tickets

Now, what do you think of his chances ?????

Unfortunately not. It merely spreads the feces around instead of removing it.

I now know more about Rubios finances in one article than about Obama's background, the details of Obamacare or Hillary's "charity".

But don't worry. NYT, NBC, CNN, etc know what's best for us commoners to read.

I thought their ignorance was only about firearms (i.e "assault" weapons, "automatic " handguns, "cop killer" bullets etc.) Not shocked to see that it extends to boats as well. Luxury speedboat..thats rich. Next they will try to prove a link between the "speedboat" and his traffic tickets to portray him as some kind of out of control racing maniac, not fit to lead the country.

The fact that the article is getting play here proves the point - it gets people to talk about it. Case closed.

The issue the NYT was focusing on was not so much Rubio's boat or how much he paid for it but how Rubio handles his own finances at home while browbeating Floridians to trim government spending

And common, the guy cashes in his IRA or his 401K or whatever tax deferred chunk of money he had to generate cash to repair a refrigerator?

He's so wet behind the ears you could run a luxury speedboat around the backside of his head and not hit a hair

Romney sidestepped him for a reason, and it had little to do with the NYT picking on him

I agree

Having personally known someone attacked by the NY Times and knowing the whole story, that paper is pure cr@p.

Please everyone take what you hear from media sources and be careful believing every bit of a story..

Yup. just wait till there is a republican front runner. They will be able to tell you if he took an extra chocolate milk with his lunch when he was in 3rd grade and accuse him of grand larceny.

it proves that some people are on to them and decided to point out the bias

most people would only read the headline and take the story at face value, then turn around and regurgitate the bullshit to someone even less informed than themselves.
most media is a pyramid scheme of stupidity

The NYT has become a leftish mouthpiece, no doubt. But they got skewered by Jon Stewart.... serves them right....
