Based on the location of the theft, it looks like it was taken from the dealer. The boat doesn't even appear to be registered yet. They are right beside I95 with a fairly vacant access road.

Saw that boat every day on I-95 at OM Facility.

Hope those boat stealing b@stards get the heck out of martin county.

It looked nice, wonder how it runs with the G2's.

Sucks.

Good question, I just looked it up and it appears to be the factory. I thought it was a dealer just because of the size.

Why isn't a variably located, battery backup, remote GPS implanted into every hull before it leaves the factory? Never understand how a guy can blow 100K on a nice new rig and not stick $100 beacon somewhere on it. Hell, just activate an old cell phone, add it to plan and slip it in a cushion. Something...

Never left the manufacture. It was stolen from the manufacture, along with their truck and trailer.

I am starting to think most of the big boats being "stolen" these days are insurance fraud. A gold mine, just sitting on a trailer, one cut lock away from riding down the freeway... Can't be that many stupid boat owners/factories?

Amazon Amazon

Because the bad guys have a $50 jammer or signal detector from Amazon and will smash it or remove it.

I use GPS trackers on my work trucks. It works great. You can create a GEO fence around a location. As soon as it leave it sends me an email lets me know the truck left the job site or the shop and gives real time location.

Won't the cell phone run out of power in a day or so?

Insurance fraud on a new sled? Please explain this to me.

I can assure you Mr. Hauptner is anything but stupid. The owner chose an OM, so he is pretty sharp as well.

Insurance fraud or inside job what's the difference? Is it that hard to track a giant boat down? I know a store owner who was robbed. Robber drove a very common F150. Police were able to track the truck over 200 miles away by just following the trail of video cameras from homes and businesses, even with no plate.I am sure Mr. Hauptner is a great guy and probably totally innocent, but chances are one of his employees is not. I have no idea what the stats are but surely over half of these expensive heists are inside jobs or insurance fraud. You would think insurance companies would make tracking devices, maybe multiple, mandatory. But if they got a $50 gizmo to jam the signal...

It happens on older boats that won't sell. It happens on older houses that won't sell. It happens on older new cars that won't sell. It also happens new cars that won't sell. Brand new houses that the developer can't sell. Why not a new boat.?

Not saying at all that this is the case but it wouldn't be out of the realm of reality.
