Default 250lb Body Builder Vs 150lb Jiu Jitsu BlackBelt

Published on Dec 1, 2013
Interesting old Video (1994) about a fight between a Bodybuilder and a professional JiuJitsu Fighter.
All about the background is explained in the video. The two men are Jiu Jitsu fighter Pedro Sauer facing body building champion Lance Bachelor.
Video was found on liveleak.

Will be interesting to here the THT knowledgeable braintrust (and others) on this.
I read the comment on the first page below the video and they are mixed.

The sponsor was a Ju jitzu org. I suppose it depends on the rules. Hard to beat cubic inches although I have seen it done. Knives and guns usually. Looks like a10 page thread.

I don't get it, seems to be a lot of fooling around on the floor trying to pin each other?

Fights are about hurting & knocking the opponent to the ground with punches, kicks, clubs, knives or guns.

I have seen the same scenario but the little guy had the giant down and out in the first few seconds.

A trained martial artist (who looked to be more than 150 lbs) against a body builder who has zero fight training or experience?

Just doesn't hardly seem fair for the body builder...who, by the way, is a convicted felon (selling illegal steroids).

There are a few things wrong with a body builder fighting MMA first you are picking a person who trains to fight probably 3-4 times a week vs some one who is just strong. If you gave that guy a month or 2 of MMA training there is a much better chance of him doing better even though the other guy probably has many years of training. The body builder has no strategy with his attacks.

No question. Kimbo is a one trick pony. He's great at winning back yard fights by his rules.

Pride had the best MMA fights. Here's a short clip of a great fight.
Don Frye 6'1" 225lb vs Yoshihiro Takayama 6'5" 290lb

I'm a fan of Gracie JuJitsu. I think that it is one of the best all around self defense styles you can take. Strength and size don't matter as much when you are skilled and the other person isn't.

When I was in college I took Gracie Jujitsu on and off for 3 years. During that time I used to have fun wrestling fighting matches with my older brother who was a cop at the time, outweighed me by about 35-40 lbs, and always used to beat me when we would "fight" each other. We would go to the beach, draw a circle in the sand and the only rule was no punching or kicking. Before I started taking Gracie Jujitsu he would beat me about 90% of the time. After a year of taking Gracie I would beat him 90% of the time.

I only got in one real fight during college where I had a jealous ex of the girl I was dating that kept insulting her at a party. He was about 6" taller and about 25 lbs heaver than me. The size difference didn't stop me from picking him up, slamming his back into the ground, he got a weak punch on me, his friend tackled me, I threw his friend off me, I pinned the jealous ex on the ground in between me and his friend and was just about to start beating the crap out of his face when my friends pulled me off him.

Skill almost always beats pure strength in my opinion.
