Default Anyone "Pay it forward"?

I just went through the drive through at Dairy Queen and the car in front of me paid for my Blizzard. I am certainly not complaining and I enjoy doing nice things for others but this was a new experience. I plan on paying if forward as well but was curious to how many people do this or have had people do this to them.

Nice to see there are still good people out there that do things for perfect strangers even though I am not in need by any stretch.

I do all the time. Even on here. I've given away marine stuff all the time on here. Hub, tires, small parts. Dude gave me a new Yamaha hat from this forum. It comes back to you too.

I had a guy pay for my entry to State park with ramp.
When I pulled up to ramp he thought he knew me LOL I offered to pay him for the entry and he denied.
I have done for others in the past. and will continue to pay foreward.

As a retired contractor I volunteer to help neighbors. The last month included a full central AC install, getting a replacement $350 ceiling fan and installing, and a bunch of leaking plumbing, among other projects. 10K to various charities last year, mostly animal related. And "loans" to friends - biggest was 30K. I have a ,lot of good karma coming!

Dude that is not paying it forward, that is just charitable. Good for you, making me feel like a slacker.

I try to make a point to PIF at least once a week.

I've only had it happen to me three times in my life, but they made an impression.

I support the Soul Kitchen, in Red Bank NJ. It is a restaurant owned by Jon Bon Jovi and his wife Dorthea. You can enjoy a 3 course meal and pay what you can for it, we suggest $10 a person. If you cannot pay, you can wash dishes, rake leaves and work around the restaurant. We never turn anyone away that needs a meal. I have been volunteering there since they opened and I donated money from every boat cover sale to them.
But when I eat there, I always pay for a couple tables around me.

I bought this old Mexican ladies handful of groceries at CVS. She had a $100 bill but couldn't communicate with the employee. Her CVS card wouldn't work and I guess she was on a budget.

I don't speak Spanish, so she said a Catholic prayer and blessed me in the CVS line.

I do the dinner/lunch thing regularly.......but once when attending a mega type church......3K on a Sunday, the pastor challenged each of us to give something away that we had a multiple of.

I have a safe full of over and under shotguns.......one particularly I had gotten in a way I was really not proud of.........

I knew within and instant that I wanted to give it away and I knew who to give it to.

He and I shoot 3-4 times a year together and he never mentions to anyone where and how he has it.

He is a great guy, a great friend, a great dad and a great example to young men in our community, but not as blessed as some......he would NEVER take the kind of money it takes to buy one and spend it on himself.

so.........maybe it was guilt..........maybe it was paying it forward......

Yeah, I kinda feel a bit cheap compared to some of you guys.

You guys know how the lines are at the DMV, right? Well, I was in line and had to pee really, really badly. I was alone and fairly close to the front of the line (after waiting nearly 2 hours) and did not wanna risk losing my space just to go to the bathroom. I can hold it, right?

I get about 2 people from the front of the line. I, and everyone else, hears the little old lady saying to the DMV employee, "Well, it was only $30 last time. That's all I brought."

DMV employee says, "Yes, we raised the price on that recently."

"I don't have any more money," says the little old lady. "Do I have to come back tomorrow and wait in line again?"

The two went back and forth. I'm thinking, "Ima pee my pants real, real soon!"

This exchange just went on and on, several times, over and over. Meanwhile, my body is telling me it's time to start doing the pee pee dance.

"Screw it!" I say. I grab five bucks outta my wallet, walk up to the front, and /not/ very nicely I throw the bill at the people. I'm thinking, just get the fornicate outta my way!

That's not how the DMV employee saw it. She told me how generous I was. The little old lady hugged me and said thank you. The line of people behind me... applauded!!! Yeah, forty or so people in line at the DMV all clapped for me and my generosity!

Are you kidding? My generosity? I did not give a crap about that old lady. I just didn't wanna pee my pants!

But, I looked like a hero. I still feel kinda weird and guilty that my narcissism was misinterpreted by so many as generosity.

I had sex with a girl on spring break and then had sex with her mom later that night. Is that paying if forward?
